Whats Your Side?

I'm a highschooler with an ap eng assignment (rough draft) due in a couple days

this assignment requires me to choose an issue/ topic and write a perssuasive editorial that's about 1 page and a half long

the problem is that i dont know what to talk about!! :eek:

the textbook example was a simple essay on "The nonsence of curfues for minors"

it could be anything though- gas enviroment blah blah

since i am still young, i have not yet firmly sided myself to anything


SOOOO MY QUESTION ISSS!!!!!

What do you strongly believe in?
(that's debate-able)
(that's 1 1/2 page write-able)
(that's simple)

"The nonsence of curfues for minors" is quite a poor title for a debate, as it sides you with a particular side from the get-go, and it's not a question (and so, can't be answered)

correct me if I'm wrong, but you're meant to present evidence from both camps, and compare / contrast them, and come to some sort of conclusion

but anyway.....

"Is a nations pride, or public patriotism, overly harmful to it's image from a foreigners perspective?"

"What can be gained from further space exploration?"

"How is war ‘remembered’ and what implications does this have for a nation's military history?"

I don't know if this is an issue where you live, in Florida there have been talks about possibly eliminating the arts from schools to save money. That means art, music, drama, etc would all be cut. Since you are a student yourself you could write about why you think the arts should be saved or cut.

That's an excellent topic, Flower. The same also goes for school sports and extra curricular activities (camp, field trips, etc). With our nation being so unhealthy and overweight, it makes no sense to cut sports out of our youth's upbringing?!

If we're not careful our schools will become more and more like a daycare rather than a learing institution.

Ugh, I had to do a report like this last year. My paper was great, typed and I even found a comic satire to go with my paper. It was about school sports and how people make too much of a big deal about them. But I didn't know my teacher was a sports couch, she gave me a C-. If you do a paper make sure your stupid teacher agrees with you. Like write a paper on how teachers are overworked and underpaid. (Ha ha you're already in school :P)

i'm getting some great ideas
maybe i'll use write an editorial on how we should stress arts in school more

was a careless interpretation of the sample topic in my own words

but that was the overall theme
that the 10:00 curfue for minors should be removed
it gave strong evidence
it supported the idea with statistics, opinions, scenerios blah blahh
