A LD or an LD (Depends if you say El-Dee or "Lucid Dream")?
A FAQ ("Feck") or An FAQ (Ef-A-Que)?
Personally, I'm going for An El-Dee and A Feck. :P

An LD
An FAQ
wouldn't FAQ be faque??
A lot of people I know say "Feck".
Yeah, faque sounds a bit french, and nobody wants that. Notice the way I left the "f" in "french" without a capitol letter, k?.
Notice how capitol is actually spelled "capital"? Haha.
Anyway, let's say ontopic :P
A ld. You say an if the next word begans with a vowel right? But saying a lucid is easyier :D.
An LD (El-dee)
An FAQ (Ef-Ay-Kyu)
I got twenty dollars on a LD.
I go A Ld
A eff-ay-kyu
..I didn't get that.
A vowel sound, yeah. But saying An LD is easier for me than saying A lucid dream. An LD is much shorter. And just saying "a lucid" makes no sense :P
Oh.
Exactly. I wasn't asking what was correct, I was kinda asking how do you "say" (in your mind) when you read a[n] LD, a[n] FAQ.
No shit sherlock. :)
Well, out of nothing better to post, my preferences are:
An EL-DEE.
An EF-AY-CUE.
But to each their own.
An LD
An FAQ
Most of you are going for An Ef-A-Kyu. BLAST YOU! ITS FECK!
a lucid dream
a faq
An ld makes no sense in my mind
it would still be a ld no matter what
An El-Dee is not retarded. A lot of people, if they read abbreviations, say the letters in their head, rather than the entire word. And "a el-dee" is impossible, because you add an additional n after a (making "an") if the first letter of the next word has a vowel sound.
Most people? Everybody that speaks proper english.
But not everybody speaks proper English, there will always be a few who fail to grasp the correct use of their "A's" or "An's". Loads of people on this site don't even know how to use "there", "they're", and "their" properly yet.
