My boyfriend's job is having a picnic with a dessert competition at the end, and the first prize is a free airplane ticket to anywhere the company flies to. So I'm entering a fall inspired chocolate torte.
A chocolate torte is basically a chocolate cake that uses very little flour, so it comes out really dense and rich...almost like fudge. Then I'll cover it with chocolate ganache (which is like a hot fudge topping, only it's not hot, and makes the cake all pretty and shiny and adds more chocolatey goodness to it). Then I'm going to decorate the top with edible chocolate leaves that I've painted in fall colors, marzipan pumpkins and flowers in the continuing fall theme, and to top it off, a spun sugar lattice dome.
