ok heres the lowdown.
i spend waaaaaay to much time on my laptop, and i think its starting to affect my eyesight its not major or un-livable but i dont want it to get worse.
How can i improve my eyesight ? the thing is i dont want to wear glasses or contacts so is it just a matter of staying off the computer for a while and my sight will improve , do i need to "train" them in some way?
Please give me some advice!

I don't think you can actually improve eyesight. I would just say spend less time on your laptop. Or use your laptop in areas where the light doesn't glare so much into your eyes.

NO WAY ive seen what they do in laser eye surgery, they like take off a layer of your eye and zap it....ew, it looks risky too, but thanks for the advice.

you are not ruining your eyesight, at least not permantantly

there's a couple of things to be aware of, tho

VDU's make your eye's lazy at focusing
as you are constantly looking at the same plane, rather than switching between different distances

also, visual fatigue is common
and has to do with the constant bright colours (word processing, in particular) as well as your eyes coping with the refresh rates of a monitor

there is no evidence to show permantant damage can occur from VDU work

best advice,
spend less time on your computer

I don't really know if laptops can give permanent eye damage. It's possible that if you just cut down on laptop usage for long enough your eyesight will get better again.

Yeah some lies would make you feel better. Only then, what if you get used to it or something, and you would get raped becouse you wouldn't see the difference between a 200 pound black man and an ATM.

Would you like that

While there is no proof that staring at a computer screen can permanently damage your eyesight, it is well known that it can cause some short-term eye problems. They even have a name for it: Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Symptoms include:
• headaches
• blurred vision
• eye fatigue
• eye strain
• dry, irritated eyes
• difficulty refocusing the eyes
To minimize the occurance of CVS, experts recommend using the 20/20/20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Also, taking a daily multivitamin, especially one that includes lutein and/or zeaxanthin, can be protective to your eyesight. My eyesight actually improved (albeit only slightly) after only a month or two of taking a quality multivitamin.
