      Psychology Test 2: Conclusions Added

      A'hoy hoy,

This is a simple and fairly quick test. I ask that any responses given by people be only related to their opinion of their answers, not their actual voted answer. In other words, you can say, "Wow that was cool."

I wish I could give a better way to do this one, but I will see how it works when given in text. (This test has been spread to the public, so if you have done it before, please do not vote as your vote is meaningless and only disrupts the concluding answers).

      The test:

Please read the following text and vote on how many letter "f"'s you count. (Case sesnitivity is not in effect)

      "Finished files are the
      result of years of scien-
tific study and years of experience."

      Thank you for your time.

I would answer but I've seen this before, if it makes a difference the first time I saw it I saw 3 "f".

What? What's going on. I counted really fast, submitted my answer and then I see that everyone's voted a different answer??? I go back and slowly go through it again and still there are only: MY ANSWER => two!

actaully there are three, if I am not mistaken...

I read it as fast as posible and got the three...

I think many people must be submitting their answers based on the poll without taking the actual exercise into account....

Kalma told me that people who are well versed in the English language will miscount. Also I showed it to people at school and I find that faster readers will miscount also.

I'm noticing nobody is posting the real number, is this taboo or something?

I counted 3 at first as well. What does this mean!?

If my previous hypothesis is right, it's not necessarily bad that you miscount. It actually says some pretty good things about your abilities.

I have to admit I seen some thing like that before too, I bet thats why half the people got it right instead of even more wrong.

Though I kind of wonder how other people got the other numbers between them.

Wait a minute, I forgot about the 'of's. (I read the text once, then recited it and counted it as I thought it would be unfair to sit there and count them on screen)

      Brief Conclusions

Without delving too much further into the workings of the subconscious mind or why certain people will pick or notice certain amounts of letters, I will briefly explain the analysis of this.

First of all, there are 6 letter "f"'s.

When told to arbitrarily search for something, the subconscious mind will overlook all insiginifcant factors to the signifcant search. Many people have seen on movies and other media sources where people will hind key things in such, typically, noticeble places.

Example 1: In the Pianist, the man wants to hide their money under the newspaper on the table for it is not a place that would typically be susceptible to search thoroughly (this is true, were it not that searches typically meant to knock over tables).

Example 2: A mother reports her son is missing to the police and neighbourhood. A thorough search for the child is called and they search all the childs favorite places, friends, school, everywhere. Eventually, the mother finds the child resting on the couch in the back room of her home.

This applies to everything, namely literacy, when you are told to look for something. The "of"'s are insignificant in this case.

For general results in the meaning of the number you chose, those who picked:

1 - Most likely only counted the capital F, did not listen, suffer a form of attention deficit, did not find the test interesting at all, etc.

2 - Overlooked the "f" in the seperated part of "scientific" deeming the second part insignificant. Most likely, they were not completely interested in the test itself, more or less their relation to the results. Eg. "What does what I have to answer mean about myself?"

3 - Too many results. Typically, an average person.

4 - Typically notice one of the "of"'s before a word, never the first of in "result of years of sci..."

5 - A rarity; almost never picked. These people are typically well versed and have a keen attention to detail or a lucrative vocabulary.

6 - 40% of the time, liars who already took the test. Another 50% who learned English as a second language. 10% contain above average IQ's.

7 - Very rare. Typically people above the age of 35. All other results vary dramatically. A unique person, regardless.

      * The above conclusions from the numbers are not my opinion.

I believe that explains it thoroughly..

      Thanks for you patronage.

Hope I've been enlightening as you have to me.[/quote]
