      basically thanking the powers-that-be (God, Allah, Thames Water and Powergen) for providing a good load of food during the summer so we don&#39;t starve in the winter

      Yea thats basicly it since back in the day everyone used to starve all the time. Infact it wasn&#39;t uncommon for entire settlements to die out over one winter. Wasn&#39;t just bad winters either, it was like every winter.
