Thats easy enough. I think your problem is your trying to remeber more than one thought at once. Try to focus on just one thing. Read my post then turn away and try to remeber what I said. You can probably easily remeber what it said. Now do it again and try to remeber it word for word. Thats what your trying to do.

If you so want there are techniques out there that help you place all of your thoughts into long term memory. Not a great idea for the effort you have to put in though.

How can you know that you're remembering the thoughts that you had before if you can't remember what they were =P

I do have memory of Some toughts... but mainly I remember the image of what I was thinking off... The brain remembers things by images as far as I know, that explains why it is hard to remember thoughts.

Erm, pardon? i have no clue what you just said. i mean i can remember what the general idea of what i was thinking of then but i cant remember what my Exact thoughts were. probably because im thinking of so many things at once and i don't try to remember small things like it that it just dosent stick.

Eh. The human brain is odd.

One day I found myself in math class thinking "I must look a lot like myself."

Yep. I can remember that but I couldn't tell you what day it is, or what I did yesterday. The mind is...complex...like that.

That's as deep as a four year old's vagina!

Haha, sorry, I know you weren't trying to say something deep, but it made me chuckle.

Do you ever look in the mirror and realize you look totally different than your mental image?

P.S. Volcon: are you retarded? Serious question here.

But if you can't remember what the exact thoughts were, prove that you were thinking about that general idea back then =P

If you don't know what your thoughts were, how do you know what you think your thoughts were is correct? Just something to ponder =P

      Very interesting post

That is why most (if not all) of us can't remember our past lives.

Thoughts are not real. They exist, but are not real, just like shadows (shadows are not real in the sense that they are not the objects which cast their image, but shadows exist, which is why you can see them).

Thoughts come and go. Their very existence is fleeting, like bubbles, or a flowing river (at a point in time, an area of the river is never really the same river (or unlikely to be the same river). Different water molecules, different atoms, though they look the same)

If Thoughts are real, then they should not change, they should not be impermanent.

At least, that is my intellectual understanding of it

Shadows are real. They are the outline of the area light can't reach directly.

      Hi,

I am distinguishing "real" and "exist" here, not using the words in the sense that some might take, to make a point. The words used here are to illustrate an analogy. The words used are to express meaning, and not to be taken as the meaning by themselves.

Shadows are real in the sense you describe, however, they are not real "in the sense that they are not the objects which cast their image, but shadows exist, which is why you can see them".

I can remember my thoughts at certain points in my life, usually when such thoughts opposed what would have been sensible in the situation.
