Liquid Water on Mars http://www.spaceflightnow.com/news/n0612/06mgs/

Strong evidence of past humanoid life on Mars?...... or ......a freakish rock?

http://marsrover.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/p/...4P2425R1M1.HTML

Finally, This guy is bit of a freak and I don't always agree with what he is saying but he has an interesting take on Mars as well.
http://www.enterprisemission.com/

My theory on Mars: It was once earth like probably with intelligent life and a large asteroid struck it sterilizing the surface. Pieces of that collision hit earth and killed the dinosaurs. Today there is under ground water on Mars and I am sure the next thing NASA will announce it the discovery of underground microorganisms. And this is a bit of a stretch but do you suppose we Martians had to leave Mars to live on Earth?Of course, I could be totally wrong and need to lay off the SCI-FI for a while. LOL.

They actually confirmed traces of water and plant life. So Mars previously having intellegent life wouldnt surprise me.

Even if there was never an advanced species. There could be micro organisms now.

I really hope the human race gets its act together before that happens. It'll really hurt our tourism when the aliens find out how much we shoot each other.

Well put, Mark.
It's the truth, too...
I hold a fairly optimistic outlook on humankind's capability for good, but I still worry sometimes that we will destroy ourselves before we learn to cooperate completely.

Yes, you do have a point. I'll be the first (in this case the third) to admit that human kind has its priorities in a mess.

As far as I know, there's quite strong indications that single-celled organisms once lived on mars. Can't remember from where I read this, but, I did.

However, a planet's ability to support siongle-celled life does not provide even remotely strong evidence for its ability to support more advanced forms of life. Out of every thousand planets that can support single-celled life, perhaps only one can support any form of life more complex. That's just a wild guess, but, the point I'm trying to make is that, SURE, I can accept without difficulty that Mars once did, does, or will in the future support forms of single-celled life or simple multi-celled organisms, it is a HUGE step from that to say that Mars did, does, will, or even CAN support more advanced forms of life.

Question.
Simple life is confirmed on Mars
Would this stop us terraforming it?
Could we, in fact, exterminate the first ET's we come across cause they breathe the wrong sort of air.

I think there might be some bacteria, or there might have been some. But really, we can never know for sure untill we find some Real proof...

It would be really really intesting if we got solid proof of there being life on Mars...

You are right. I should have put that. I dont see how to edit that in or I would. But the question was do you believe not do you know. I guess you dont know if you believe? I was realy just getting peoples opinions not what they know. Good point though.

I am sure they already know. LOL! Thats why they havent landed yet. I cant see an advanced race of beings being afraid but I can see them avoiding us. WE HUMANS ARE CRAZY!!!!!!!!!

We've found exactly ONE rock, that at ONE angle looks VAGUELY humanoid.
That is pareidolia at its prime.

Tsen, I didn't realise there was such a great name for that (Pareidolia). Whether or not ET is coming over the horizon breathing liquid water atmospheres (or whatever), I love you forever.

Acutaly I heard an interview with one of the rover engineers. He said that there were several simular rocks like this one found. Of course, he dismissed as you, saying our minds need to find patterns and make sense of chaos. I wonder why NASA jsut does not simply take a closer look at these things when they find them. Isnt that what science and discovery is all about ? Until they do I guess we will never know. The argument could go on an on. I guess what I am saying is we cant dismiss everything as pareidolia until we have more info.
