Talking

For the past years, i have subscribed to dozens of Forums, but there's only two where i have been active on a regular basis:

The Criterion Forum: Forget IMDB, this is probably the most serious (perhaps too serious) of all movie boards, where film geeks debate about everything.
Music Mule: A board where underground/indie music is discussed, with direct ED2K sharing links. Britney spears fans look elsewhere.

Feel free to post yours!
Cheers

IMDB - A large and fun community. I mostly post in the Halo 3 board, and the House board. There I am known as PCwhipped.
Gamer Angels - On Xbox.com a group of us started a group called the Gamer Angels. Similar to the Official Xbox Ambassador program (which I also a part of), the Gamer Angels are just a user made group for fun gaming.
Xbox360 v2 - Me and a friend began this forum. Its tiny, but we made it as a retreat from Xbox.com, specifically the Halo 2 boards. Back on Xbox.com the Halo 2 board was flooded by with flamers, spammers and trolls come the night hours. Its to be expected, it was the most popular board. Unfortunatly the Halo 2 board regulars didn't want to participate while the flamers and spammers lurked, so we set up this small, free board. We are actually over the christmas holiday putting it on a real server, and getting an actual (more catchy) domain name.

And my favourite, next to Dreamviews:

Xbox.com - This is my other forum home I've been a member pretty much since it began, and its undergone drastic changes since then. Its been about 5 years now. About a year ago the forums were completely revamped, they look nothing like they did before, and now they have so many features. The community is amazing too. Over 300 000 members, and all the regulars know each other. Unlike this community though, only the regulars are tightly knit, and there are MANY flamers, MANY spammers, and other trolls. Thankfully they're dealt with, sooner or later. Just over 100 or two (active) moderators to deal with over 100 forums and over 300 000 members. Not to pleasent. But still, I love this community.

Depends on your leanings. I WISH there was a good pol forum out there that was inclusive of all political viewpoints without the hatred, sniping and bickering. If anybody finds one, please let me know!

In the meantime, good places to monitor include freerepublic.com, dailykos.com, littlegreenfootballs.com, and many other excellently connected and written blogs.

I've yet to find a political "home" where intelligent political discussion takes place. That is perhaps because of the nature of politics itself - and that combining "intelligent" and "political" in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

Damn. I know you are right. But doesn't it seem possible?
I tried to hold a debate night rather than the usual stupid ass game night. I thought we could have a bunch of cool topics and discussions.
But people can't disconnect from their feelings and think on a more logical plain.
I guess that is part of it. Emotions bring then to their conclusions.
eeeh I could go on but I am staying ---

DV was/is my first, one, and only.

well, I joined a fish-keeping forum after DV, but wasn't a member for long since I got rid of my tank.

I've joined so many forums it aint funny. I only lasted maybe a month or so on others. They just couldn't hold my interest.

Dreamviews the forum I visit the most. Think it hooked me from the first time I read through the messageboard. I visit several times a day, a few minutes each time just to skim through topics in the forums.

The other forums I visit most are both role play places. The first is a Star Wars site that can easily be found by googling star wars. (yeah yeah, I hear the geek detectors sounding off) I've been a member there for two years or so.

The other is a fighting forum where we post beating each other down. It's called Tornament of Legends and first prize for the last team standing is a hundred and a half bucks. While winning some cash would be cool I'm only there to kick some cyber ass. That forum is called Give Up Already. I just joined and while I'm not addicted to it yet I may soon be if I can hone my ass kicking abilities.

only one other forum, dreamers online...i don't hang around much in the dreaming section on there, but 'rant and rave' is pretty cool.

It was a spin off from another board that i used to go to, but me and a bunch of others left cos it all got a bit teenage, and one of the members made a new board, which i joined in June.

not so many posts on there as on here, but i'm more involved here.

Just this one. And I wouldn't call refreshing every 10 minutes obsessively over interesting topics an addiction so much as it is devotion.

You know nothing of devotion! Where were you when... ok, nevermind.

somethingawful.com <--- pure genius. I'm quite suprised no one else has said this one yet. Too bad the forum actually costs $10 to sign up for. It was well worth it for me, though, haha. Seems ridiculous, but seeing as though they get roughly 750 new members/day that come and go, they have a lot of bandwidth to pay for. Completely non-profit, and completely hilarious. There is a section dedicated to everything with very dedicated members. I normally hangout in the music forums or gaming forums.

Right now, I am addicted to SomethingAwful.com. Picture DV, with a community of about 80,000 and... well, about three times as active. But it takes $10 to register. Worth it, IMO.

I have had a few other boards I am addicted to, but right now it is only this one. There are so many different kinds of forums here that I can find all of my favorite kinds of discussions. There are forums for philosophy, religion, entertainment, and babbling, plus several forums for talking about lucid dreaming. My true and severe internet addiction has historically been about arguing philosophy, religion, and politics, and now I can do all of those on one web site. This is my favorite web site of all time (a.k.a. "seven years").

The philosophy board I was so addicted to for so long was TheCry.com, an existentialism site with a discussion forum. That place was such a trip. The most fun debating I have ever done on the internet involved a heated discussion with a guy who insisted that there is such thing as conscious particles. That was so cool.

The political site where I would spend as much as 12 hours at a time having heated arguments with lots and lots of people was Nonviolence.org. I am usually alone here with my political views. Lucid dreaming apparently attracts the Hell out of liberals, and I am conservative on foreign policy and economics, but liberal on pretty much everything else. At Nonviolence.org, it was a pretty even match up between America bashers and supporters of American wars. You would not believe the hostility that was present at that discussion board, and that made it all so fun. That site no longer has a discussion board. The owner of the site started expressing at the end that he wanted the war supporters to leave. I pointed out how every regular there was a war supporter of some form because the majority of the so called pacifists condoned the actions of Hamas, the PLO, and the Iraqi insurgents. I also kept pointing out that it was not an anti-war site, but an anti-American site. Once I started driving those points into the ground, the discussion board was permanently shut down. I don't know if it was because of my posts, but I definitely seemed to be the most hated U.S. supporter there, so maybe.

Did anybody here ever go to Nonviolence.org's discussion forums? It would be such a trip if somebody I met there is somebody I have run into here also.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
