I just was at wikipedia, and I discovered, to my horror, that we have no entry. If web comics have them, as to some "lesser" sites (i.e. Bash.org, Keenspot, etc.) why not us?
WHO WILL TAKE UP THE CHALANGE?

Bash.org, lesser site? NOT RLY.
compared to DV? HERATIC!
I can't vote "no" to the first two before you add a "no" option to the last.
Dreamviews shouldnt have a wikipedia entry. n_n
you sux.
Yes we do need one
No we don't
However, I bet if somebody made one, they would get rid of it
Yeah, it'd be deleted. Bet you $5.
I'll create one and they can't delete it if they don't know it exists
jesus christ do you guys have some kind of secret ridiculous avatar site.
and kaniaz, that is strikingly similar to this.

I'm not really concerned. There's a link to us on the Lucid Dreaming wiki page, and a couple of members here were prime contributors to the LDing page. I'm content with that.
Yeah they would, there's admins on Wikipedia 24/7 that look at the new additions/edits page and clean it up. A wiki for a small forum like this one would be quickly noticed and deleted. Think, people, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a "cool links" site (like digg is now).
Digg has never been cool, Wikipedia is cool to some extent.
Still, no DV page. >_>
No it used to be kinda cool, I used to go there for news and stuff
It's gone to shit now, here are three examples I just pulled from the homepage (they give a nice example of what digg has become):

Yeah, it is kind of pathetic now. I still keep it as a live bookmark on my bookmark toolbar though, it does occasionally have its moments.
I thought you made those up to look deliberately pathetic until I skipped back. I really did. Tricked! TRICKED I SAY!
I reckon its a good idea to make a dreamviews page on wiki
It wouldnt get deleted
if its made well that is
that being said I dont see why its necessary, if theres a link to this place on the lucid dreaming page thats enough really isn't it?
Imran
Perhaps when the first three posts told you this was a bad idea it would have discouraged <strike>you</strike> an intelligent human being.
However, it's quoting time. Perhaps it will shut you up without an argument so that we can let this thread die and have no important damage except a dent to your reputation.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE("Wikipedia")</div><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE("Wikipedia")</div>Quote:
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia (along with some topics that would typically be found in an almanac). Hence, articles should consist of encyclopedic information about "notable" subjects. What exactly constitutes notability is the subject of constant debate on Wikipedia, but few of us believe that there should be articles about every person on the planet, every company that sells anything, or each street in every town in the world.[/b]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE("Wikipedia")</div>Quote:
A topic is notable if it has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works from sources that are reliable and independent of the subject itself and each other. All topics must meet a minimum threshold of notability in order for an article on that topic to be included in Wikipedia. This requirement ensures that there exists enough source material to write a verifiable, encyclopedic article about the topic.[/b]
Please get a clue. Please understand.Quote:
Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of items of information. That something is 100% true does not mean it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. While there is a continuing debate about the encyclopedic merits of several classes of entries, current consensus is that Wikipedia articles are not simply:
5. Internet guides. Wikipedia articles should not exist only to describe the nature, appearance or services a website offers, but should describe the site in an encyclopedic manner, offering detail on a website's achievements, impact or historical significance, which can be significantly more up-to-date than most reference sources since we can incorporate new developments and facts as they are made known. See current events for examples.[/b]
Techboy's already done it for me, but just to re-iterate:
Dreamviews should not have a Wikipedia article, and if anyone ever tried to make one, not only will they get a severe frown of dissapproval from me, there effort's will quickly be deleted - by my own hand if possible. However much some of you disagree, in Wikipedia terms Dream Views is not notable. We already have a link at the bottom of the Lucid Dreaming article - is that not enough? Doesn't that solve every purpose it needs to?
In true Wikipedia style:
Strongly Oppose - IdentityX, 23:33 13 January 2007 UTC.
was that aimed at me?
how is it a dent to my reputation if so?
I see it like this
I dont know much about wikipedia
I was wrong
You kindly psoted quotes proving so
and then you removed the kindess acting smarmy when pointing this out
if it wasnt aimed at me :?
Imran
Yes. Did we place the link at the top? If not, we should. >_>!
It was aimed at Keeper, of course.
Perhaps, but that doesn't mean it's smaller than Dreamviews. It has about 1000x more viewers.

Kimpossible
Kimpossible pwned every member of every forum across the entire internets with every post she made. KP created endless fountains of drama in R/S, much to the lulz of sane onlookers. Sadly, KP was uploading so much awesome to the DV servers that she had to be banned, as well as for fire saftey reasons.
Ex Nine
Ex Nine pwned almost as much as KP, and the two would often join forces like some kind of Mega Pwnagezord. Sadly, Ex Nine was also struck by the banhammer shortly after KP, leaving DV a steaming, festering, empty husk of its former self.
Nirvana Starseed/Boris
Also known as Boris Starseed, Nirvana is some kid from Australia or something who has it all figured out, except for the fact that everything he ever posted was absoludicrously insane. Nirvana may have made valid, convincing points if it weren't for the fact that he has no clue. One redeeming quality of Boris is his determination. Despite being woefully ill equipped for intellectual debate and proven completely wrong at every post, he never gave up. That little trooper! He eventually became a Nazi and was struck by the banhammer, much to the relief of everyone else.
Today, to question weather a member is Boris Starseed is to instantly strip them of their dignity, honour, credibility and humanity. Seppuku is recommended.
Leo Volont
Leo was old. He never actually posted his age even when questioned, which means that he's really, really old. Scientists theorize that Leo has lived for at least four geological eras longer than most humans.
Where there's a Leo Volont post, there's fire. Every Leo post resulted in copious amounts of drama and lulz. A well known fact about Leo is that he's been banned from every forum on the internets, in some cases multiple times.
