In Dr Who he has psychic paper, which is blank, but people see what they what to see and he uses it to get into places he is not allowed too.

The one were he has the guy hand over his phone and other stuff, is pretty awesome.

He's just like "Oh i see you have your phone there, i'll just take it" and the guy hands it over, lol.

HELL YES! I've been preaching Derren Brown for god knows how long on this forum. Buy his DVD's, get his book, his stuff is all absolutely incredible. All of it. He's pretty big here in the UK and has a show every Friday night at 10:30 UK time on Channel 4. If you can, watch it. If you can't, then wait for the DVD.

I've been watching this guy since he started, and to me, he's Jesus.

I saw his live show last year and it was mind-blowing. I can't describe it. It's not magic or supernatural or anything. He's just a very VERY intelligent guy who knows how the mind works, and can manipulate it.

Derren Brown is awesome, any of you in the UK watch his new show Trick or Treat on channel 4 on fridays?

Glad to see other people also are fascinated by what he does =) Man, I wonder how hard it is to do all those things yourself. In theory, everyone could, but you have to be extremely charismatic or something, and have extremely good knowledge of how the human mind works.

What's on his DVD? Just all his episodes? Or ways to become a mind-manipulating-mastermind yourself? I might consider buying the DVD anyhow, or something like that.

The DVD. is just all the episodes of one season. In his book he gives off a little bit of how he does things.

I reccommedn Richard Bandler "Trance-Formations". That book is jam packed with NLP techniques that you can apply to Derrens magic. in fact i think Darren got a lot of his skill from there.
watch some of his videos again. pay no attention to his performance, but pay attention to how he is talking, and what his body language and hands are doing. you will learn a lot.

Allow me to anylise his trains of thought video.

his script is " What Stop thinking about it now, are you getting off at" normally the guy would hear his entire sentence. But notice, ho darren waves his finger and points down. and does it again and the dude's eyes follow. Then the guy looks up to the part where he would access visual information.
If you ask someone a question where they would access visual information from, and direct their eyes to another information accessing point, (in the black dudes case he pointed to where the man would access kinesthetic information from,) They will get temporary amnesia.

you can pull this off easily. Ask someone a question about something. after they answer say a line and then ask "what were we just talking about?" Wave your hand like derrens and direct their gaze to another place.

Darren Brown does not used NLP, he said himself that NLP is rubbish, however he does use a select few. The problem with learning a technique is that their is a loss of human intellect and contact with the person you are trying to influence. Every analysis of Darren Brown using NLP is wrong as he does not use NLP. I suggest you read his chapter on NLP and his last chapter ramma187. Well I would say that Darren Brown is confusing the person and acting like a authority figure, in the video of the paper look at how confusing he is trying to be. How he speaks at the end is interesting if you listen.

Darren Brown does not use NLP and he does not use hypnosis(he even admits hypnosis is BS). I think the technique of adrenline drain in one of his capters somes up his method i.e. using a person weakness of confroming to athority and environment.

That book is in the mail. i will read that chapter. HE undoubedly uses NLP. I've read a lot of those tricks that he uses in that video. If he thinks NLP is a waste of time then why does he use it A LOT!

As for hypnosis. wether it's real or not. It helps people, make great changes in peoples lives.

I don't agree with religion. but if say a drug addict "Finds god" and stops his addiction because of it. Isn't that agood thing? that person will have a longer and better life because of it.

And of course he's confusing the person. He overloads their conciousness by asking a question mixed with a embed statement, while simultaneously making them stare. he also talks too fast and deliberate. all that is taken directly from NLP. the guy who invented NLP even said "there is no such thing as hypnosis".

He dosen't flat out hate NLP he just says that a technique is weak because it is a technique, thats my main jib at NLP because you can't reduce something that is complex into a technique. The NLP courses seem to be a scam to me. I guess you could say Darren Brown uses a variation on NLP, however in Darren's words don't become a true believer.

Darren? sorry to correct you but its Derren, common mistake

Just to try and give you more of an inclination as to what techniques Derren uses: if you listen closely to the trick that Neruo mentioned, in which Derren hands over blank paper instead of money, you'll here Derren say "I was feeling a bit intimidated by the subway system, but my friend said hey, just take it" and when he says "take it" he hands over the paper.

Truly amazing, this guy makes me realize that we're all just as "asleep" when we're awake as we are when we are dreaming. What WILL it take for us to wake the %$#@ up, huh?

I love Derren Brown. I used to be totally in awe of him and couldn't understand how the hell he did any of the stuff he did. Since you start reading into his techniques though, you start to understand the importance of every word in the speils he gives during a trick.
I myself have already managed to convince someone that their hand was stuck IN the table and another person that there was a hamster running around their feet. At the moment I am working on arguing that black is white - I'm pretty sure it's possible after seeing one of Derrens tricks in which he got a woman in Las Vegas to beleive that red was black and that someone must have sprayed her (red) car while she was in a casino.
