      Motorcycle

Hey everyone i just had a few questions for everyone who knows anything about this.

My buddy (whos in his mid-30's)told me his motorcycle insurance was about 1/3 of his truck insurance (and his truck is a POS, the bike is worth more money)

Anyway, i was wondering what the insurance is like for anyone who is in their teens that has a bike compaired to their car/truck or w/e.

Also, i dont want a crochrocket, i want a crusier, (harly would be nice, but im not rich lol, i want a powerful bike (easily go over 100mph) but a sensable one, (iv never road one before and im about 150lbs) Wide back tire would be awsome. :-p

Anyway, im 17 Lol, and my insurance is already pretty high, but i think im going to start saving for a bike. I kinda want to stay under 2000$ but i understand that might be rediculous. Anyway, if you have any imput that would be great, maybe reccomend a bike or tell me about your insuarnce costs.

Last time I had motorcycle insurance (5 years ago) it was quite cheap, less than $250 per year. But keep in mind that that is just covering your liability. If you want to insure your bike itself that would probably double the cost, and if you want to cover your own medical…. forget it.

      Very nice looking bike.
--Damn'it i copied your post and now im blue. lol.

I want a crusier though, with my personality, and road rage i would surily not survive long with a bike like that.

Ty for the input Asher, WOW i wish my insurance was low lol.

I would deffinaily get more then liability if my bike was worth more then a grand or two.

What bike did you have asher? Why did you stop riding?

Yamaha Seca II 600. Corbin leather seat. very nice bike. If you want a bike with (most of) the speed and agility of a sportbike, but with a more relaxed ride, it's a very nice choice.

(Not mine, btw, but you get the idea).

Someday I'll get a bike again. Just a matter of time.

      I see.

I dont think i would ride if i had a kid also, its so dangerous.

That bike doesnt look bad asher, if all the cruisers are way to expensive i might really consiter that bike. Not very expensive either. Plus the comfort is a good thing, i like very long drives.

the bike insurance is cheaper because the bike is cheaper. if your buddy has a POS truck and is paying more for it than the bike he is getting ripped off. truck/suv insurance is generally higher because trucks/suvs are generally more expensive. -- bike insurance for you will be pretty high seeing as you're 17... but so will car... so my suggestion... if you really want a bike (and your parents will go for it) get a cheapo... maybe an old-school honda or something (the chicks will still dig it) and then work yourself up to a better model.

may i also suggest looking into some health insurance.

      Heath insurane,

Lol, j/k i think i have full coverage from a parents state job.

Idc, i asked my friend today, he has a brand new 6500$ bike, he just has liability, (dumb) and he said its 45 a month, i think. This is still not alot at all, (it might have been 75, im not sure..) Anyway, i think im going to get like a 2grand bike, im not sure which model yet. I will probabily just get liability, but thats 2grand not 6.5.

-->I Cant wait lol, yeah i gotta talk the parents into it. Like 1/2 of my relatives ride though, so it shouldnt be a problem.

Are there state training courses where you live? I did that in WA state, and not only was it an excellent class, but at the end of it you get to skip the riding test when you apply for your license and you can ride any size bike.

It wasn't an issue for me at the time, but I would imagine that taking a class like that might also help convice the parents.

Best of luck and post pics of you bike when you get it!

      Well i live in CT.

They have a HUGE bike place called Xcaliber a few miles away from my house, they teach a safty course. I am deffinatily going to go there before i get my bike. Im thinking of getting a 2002 s650V (Suzuki) GLORIUS bike. I want a crusier, but i think i am going to get that for a first bike. Way less expensive, and it looks awsome, with great reviews.

Im going to the DVM soon, im going to get the booklet so i can study for the motorcycle test. Ill proabily get the license soon, im not sure if im getting a bike untill after this winter though. ->I dont want to wait that long, but it makes sense financially.
