      Dorm or Apartment?

This fall im going to be a First year Transfer Sophomore

i spent last year in a Community College(bad grades in HS )

some of the colleges that i applied to might not have space for me in their dorm rooms
so i would have to get an apartment close by

since i havent been to a real college yet im trying to figure out what i should choose Dorm or Apartment?

I can think of both pros and cons for both

      any advice would be appreciated

I'd go for the dorm but that's just me. Dorm is closer for sure, and you can be closer to others if you need help with homework or something. Plus dorms are usually next to food.

I would chose an apartment over a dorm, only because I wouldn't want to a dorm w/someone. Maybe a friend but if I get a physcopath person to be my roommate I would DIE!!!

with the dorm you don't have bills and you usually get some sort of internet/phone connection. in an apartment you can drink and smoke and be merry.

i'm hitting up the college scene in the fall too. i'll be dorming it until i get a feel for the neighborhoods and get and idea on a good apartment.

it's really up to you but i'd try to get a dorm your first year.

The dorm room is great... you meet so many more people and it's so open. You leave your door unlocked when you're there, and people just walk on in and chat. It's great for your first year, at least. I'm going to be living in an apartment-like dorm next year.

Apartment...but that's just cause most people suck

Nah, but its just more private and you can do whatever you want without having to worry about anything...plus, you can make it a bachelor pad
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Ive just finished my first year at university and I stayed in a dorm/hall of residence and I hated it, if you value your sleep id suggest an apartment it was like living in a club 18-30 holiday weekend all year round, full of people I wouldnt assossiate if I could help it. not that i dont like to party, but having drunken townies screaming outside your window at 4am when you have lessons the next day kinda makes me wish they hadnt passed anti-gun laws in britain

Depends what your after really, I hated it but everyone has a different experience.
