I'm gonna have a bad dream tonight, my girl just left me.

Shes been getting further and further away from me and finaly I think its over. And it hurts :cry: I dont even know if I'll sleep tonight, but if I do, I'll post what I'll dream. I hope to see if what I dream has to do something with my situation. see ya tomorrow.

I dont really feel like going to sleep, so many thoughts and emotions rushing through my head. am I mad, sad, dipressed or shocked. I just dont know. Awww, Im sorry, things like these that can really bring a person down, sadly, there is nothing you can do about it. And all you can do is keep your head up and hope that it will be ok. As it will, the pain will pass someday..and yes this world is worth living, there are still many beautiful things out there, you'll see, its natural to be sad now, but you'll be ok, dont worry =)

Crap, Nothing. But I had a strange dream that I'm dating a different girl. One that I knew a long time ago. Why would my self conciounce not be more intrested in my girl. :|

Strange dream though.

Sometimes people just aren't right for each other. It happens, but life is still beautiful. Wait a month or so: You'll see. I promise that eventually you will find someone else, and life will still be ok. Just focus on healing your soul right now...focus on being happy.

I hate when my subconscious makes fun of me. It try not dreaming of something bad, and that works (thankfully), but when I try to dream of specific people, it slaps me back and forth and says "haha". This will probably affect my dreaming tonight. Now it definately will....yep...oh know. PARADOX! It won't happen. But if I write that then it will. But now it will! :? :shock:

You would have to have a sub concious to dream meaning you would have to have a brain.Meaning you wouldn't be a robot completely. You could have robotic parts but you would have to have a brain. If you were a computer or robot you couldn't be programmed to dream only to view a prerecording.

By then I think it would be a good estimate for artificial intelligence to be decently programmable. I don't see why a robot wouldn't be able to have a subconscious program or something to that affect.

No, he has a point, TV is culture in the US. Although I hate how people just watch stuff and think that thats the way your suppost to act. Its stupid. I call these people followers. I'm not saying I'm a leader, but more in between. Like how American Idol is a hit, now everyone wants to start singing, (Like my annoying sister). And stupid music videos, influencing sexual interaction. Or how these stupid shows are promoting bad morals in sexual choosing and telling everyone that they have to look perfect.

In closing, TV is a BIG culture impact.

TV has influenced many things in culture that you may not even realize. How we view women as attractive for one. Funny thing is, I don't know how this started in the first place...maybe those 1920s movies or something? Who knows.

I'm not a follower here, but following something to feel excepted is a natural psychological insecurity. There's nothing wrong with it, but it can become dangerous. Everyone wants to feel excepted. Some do it better than others (they do their own "Style" for example). Let's not bash the people that really did just flip on the channel and start watching American Idol, and liked it, not just turning it on because everyone elese did.

But conformity reaches subtle levels in some "rebellious" and "punk" groups. Some of them talk about not giving in to trends and being yourself, but at the same time I see a large group with the same hair cut and color, and the same clothing styles. I'm not saying they're hypocritical, it's just a natural thing.

I don't think you have to tell me about being skeptical... I never believe anything unless I have something that tells me I should. It is best to question every single thing, to find the true origin of it and the "why" behind it....

What you guys are saying is right, I have been saying so in many threads all along. The problem with going with a counter culture movement, is that it is still a movement, just like any other. It is just as equal as someone who choses to follow the Pop movement. You see, counterculture starts with the desire to not be like everyone else, not follow the aestethic tendencies and such that we are always fed. The problem is that this now has become an aestethic tendency as well, and there is no originality in doing so.

All my life I have been trying to see the big picture, rise above it all. I believe that so far I am faring pretty well. I just don't give a fuck about anything. I identify to some extent with the rebellious and punk movements, and have many friends that have adopted it(the look and all). Eventhough the people I get along with best are doing so, I refuse to express the way I feel, or who I represent by looking a certain way. I put on whatever clothes I am given and, hardly ever, I pick myself up a pair of jeans or a t-shirt or something. Perhaps of a group I like, or just some design that seems kind of cool. But my point is I don't dress the way that I am expected to, or act the way that they want me too. I try to rise above it all and be as much of myself as possible, without getting carried away by all the things that truly do not matter...

P.S. I am now about to do something that will further prove how little I care about brands that I am supposed to identify with and such, and had the brilliant idea of having my own t-shirts made. I will choose some frase or picture or whatever that I find clever or insulting to those who read it, and have it made, instead of sporting the name of some guy's company to make him richer... I am not saying/doing this to prove anything to anyone, I just think it is a much better idea...

Yeah, I often find myself wearing a pear of jeans for quite a while, and I too just pick a shirt I like and buy it. I mean, I am quite a communist idealist (though at the same time a realist), but I don't go as far as too let spite myself and not buy videos and games or a clothes I like. Even a pair of sneakers. I like the design; I don't care if it's made in Indonesia or something--my 40-60 dollar (that's as far as I go...the most expensive was 100 and that was more of a gift, not to mention how much of an asshole I felt making them buy those shoes) sneaker purchase [that I wouldn't have bought, say] isn't going to stop Nike or whatever from making money.

Hmm I was pretty young when the yoyos were "popular" so I believe I did ask my parents to purchase me one. But then in like 2 weeks it died down :? I felt really stupid. I think that was my first instance were I drew the line with myself to not give in to standard conformicy.


I just hate it when I try not to care, and I buy, say I dunno this thing, and then I see all these people with this thing, and all my friends piss me off about how I'm trying to be "trendy" and such. It's really fucking annoying. I just bought the thing because I like it, and then they have to tease the hell out of me. Like I said, I just buy and watch what I like.

And this other friend I have is really a nutcase. Me and like 2 or three others started watching Chappelle's show like about the same time. We all thought it was going to be your basic "black comedian makes fun of white people" shows. But we were wrong (he kind of makes fun of everyone :)) So we started watching, and I told a few others to watch it, and a few others, and so and so forth. In a few weeks everyone is saying "Yeaaaahhh!" and "I'm Rick James, bitch!" So it's kind of annoying. My friend (nutcase) is even saying it. It was funny for a couple of times, but then it just got plain annoying. So my friend stops watching it. I'm like "why'd you stop watching?" and he gives me a answer like "oh I dunno because everyone is watching it now" (half the reason was that, the other was what my other friend told me that he couldn't steal the jokes anymore...go figure).

That is the problem with some people. They start doing a trend or something, and then when so many people do it they back out. I don't know what to call this. This same friend did this with a band I liked. He's all over it and 3 weeks later he dispises it. Almost like he's playing games with us. But I know he's not. I know quite a few others who do this to. It's really disgusting.

Exactly. That's why I fell almost all of those people are contradictions in themselves. Sure, some are totally different (I dunno, go walking around in winter with speedos and growing a 10 foot mustache), but for the most part, it gets me aggravated by what they refer to as "different".

If you really want to be different, work on your personality. Get an education. Do something for the world. Make your personalty stand out among the billions. Wearing a t-shirt isn't going to do that for you.

My suggestion is that if you want to be different than everybody else, its simple: Stop trying to be different...

Well now, let me tell you a story....

My sister right now is in the GAPP (German American Partnership Program), it's an exchange student program, and in April, this year, we had our German exchange student come. Well, I went out of my way many many times to spend time with her, as I like her more than any girl I've ever met, so you can safely assume that I truly love her. But anyway when April 24th came around and it was time for her to leave, I was VERY VERY sad, possibly angry that she had to leave. But she had to leave, and she did, it hurts, really, really, bad, so I can relate to ya. It still hurts to this day. Just don't let that bring you down. That's the worst thing you can ever let happen in that situation.

Man, that does suck. Did the girl respond and, actually like you though? Or was it just one sided? Did you confess anything to her?

I had a similar experience...

Shortly after a bad break-up, I met a girl that I shortly, you could say, fell in love with. She was a much better person that I deserved, and I thanked whatever supernatural force brought us together daily. Then, "family business" forced her to move to New York City (I live in Denver). I constantly struggled to not get too depressed. To enjoy the time we had.

But the day came when she had to leave, and all too soon she was gone, probably forever. All the emotion that I had been holding back suddenly broke loose: fear, anger, even despair dumped out on me. That night, I didn't sleep more than 2 hours. But I had a dream, a strange one, where the whole time I just fell, down, down, down, trying to reach the bottom.

Then I did. And woke up.

The next day I felt better. Still sad, but better. Of course, the girl, Ali (Alexandra) and I talked on the phone, but obviously it wasn't the same. She was gone.

But after a while I realized that I had never been more happy IN MY LIFE than I was when I was with Ali.
Moral of the story: better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

I just wanted to post a strange dream I had about my girl last night.

This isn't the dream yet: I recently drew a picture of me and her together looking all happy and stuff. I gave it to her and she kept it with a letter I wrote to her some time ago.

My dream: I'm walking in a room and I see a table with some papers on the corner of it. I walk to it and I notice and realize that its the drawing I gave my girl. I thought she must have forgoten it. but as I look again at it, its a friends face on it enstead of mine. I know that she talks to him and he likes her but these drawings seems to be set up for me to find them and look at them. I felt has if I was being attacked be these drawings showing my girl and him together as a look from one to the other. I thought to myself if my girl had showed him the picture that I drew of us together and he made a counterpart by drawing one of his own and trying to scare me. But the dream ends and I realize that it was only a dream, but it seemed so real.

Why would I dream of something like this? I dont have any anger or know if my friend his mad at me? Is my councious unsure or what? :hrm:

It does sound like you are a touch paranoid about losing your girl. About your friend, I guess it's possible that your subconscious is wondering about your friend's loyalty, BUT before you think that, understand that dreams aren't always that black & white. It's possible that your brain just needed a male image to be the antagonist in your dream.

I'm no expert, mind you. Those are just my opinions. I do hope it helps and I wish you and your girl much happiness!! :)

I've had dreams like that before. I think it's mainly that when you're in a relasionship (or a good one, at least) you don't want it to end and so there's a part of you that is in constant fear of it ending. So, that part of you expresses itself in the dream.

Still having strange dreams about her. This website should have an official interpretor for some dream cases that can tell you the meaning of certain dreams.

And for the self-interpretor thing, this is true but ones self cant see the many signs that one thinks is just there for the purpose of being there, like your past being changed for the dream to make sence of the dream or music playing in the distance or even when its extremely hard to move in a dream and it takes a hard effort to move just a little bit, stuff like that one thinks is normal.

It is my belief, though don't be offended by this, that dreams aren't meant to tell you anything. They're just a load of stuff your brain felt like showing that day, but you can make links to some images to your life because that's where the brain gets images from anyway.

You're probably right. I think it's the most subtle and the most affected-by events of the day that slip into your dreams, however. Which is why if you really want to have a dream about, say, banana pie (I dunno...), just focus all of your attention for the day on banana pie. Become obsessive over it. But I do have to agree that some events in the day do effect what one dreams.

Of course they do. If I am not mistaken, in English that should be called the daily residue(?). Our brain always takes what we have experienced in the last few days and uses it as a way to fulfill your desires, while keeping it relevant to your current life. For example, the other day you had a fight with a friend. Two days later you might dream of something that has to do with him, in a unconcious effort to make up with him(in case that is what you really want, of course). You probably won't dream about you making up with him, but something that will represent that action to your subconscious mind.

Its complicated stuff, I know. But that is why I am making a tutorial :wink: ....

Well, if I were my subconscious, I wouldn't want to just sit there any do nothing while the rest of my lame-ass body takes a break. I'd need some entertainment!

But really, I think that of all of the reasons people use to explain what dreams are for are partially true; your mind is resolving internal issues, expressing things that you don't want to reveal in your waking life, all in one neat package.

So...what if a person does not want nightmares, yet continues to get nightmares every night. That's the subconscious bitch-slapping you right there.

What I've found, is that if you remain confident that you will or will not dream about something, and then just let it pass (go onto another activity), your attitude will affect your dreams. However, it can backfire. You might be subconsciously saying "it won't work" and thus, the opposite affect happens.

Then there's a subconscious "paradox", where you try to fight the subconscious, but you continue to fail, and eventually "win", discovering a way to beat (yeah right) it, yet as soon as you try it again it fails. Finally you give up and something you want you begin to dream about, and *bang* backfires next night since you decide not to care anymore.

Truth is, you can't do anything, and you can't do everything. Both ways you will be confused and contradicted.

I want to clear something up: The subconscious mind is part of our person, it is not an enemy to defeat, or an antagonist to our consciousness. It is merely what we are not completely aware of, things that we have repressed but should be able to discover consciously without that much effort. If you don't want to have nightmares but still do, its only cause you have undealt issues that need to be resolved in order for you to move on.

Don't try to beat anyone...rather try to understand the cause of it and deal with it consciously

This world offers infinite opportunity to improve things. Yourself, your life, others&#39; lives, etc. That is something worth living for, even if they&#39;re essentially meaningless improvements in the end. After all, they&#39;re no more meaningless than death.

Of course, this whole world is indeed a dream, as dreams and waking life are (almost) the same thing (see my sig). This has little to do with the question though, because even so, you can still ask yourself if it&#39;s worth living.
