I shit you not. This is a chemical containing a plethora of amino acids (obviously). More precise details were not available to me through which I came across this..

Anyone else got some more details on the definitions on these perhaps..? More words? ^_^

Yeah, the last one I came across on a BBC website. Researcher says: "Did you know how long it took me to write this down"?

      Re: Longest Words (Whoa)

I think the fourth word is officially recognized as the longest word. (In most dictionaries etc.)

But still. That last one. Wow.

I think for things like that they just keep hooking things on the end of it depending on how big and stuff it is. I wouldn't count it as a real word

the meth prefix means it starts with a methane group...the rest of it is the amino-acid chain attached to the methane group...what they do is there is a suffix for each amino-acid, and so the simply take each amino acid suffix onto the meth portion of the word for each amino acid in the chain, until they get that mess...the methionyl actually specifies a specific type of methane group, i just dont know what it is off the top of my head...im geussing there is an oxygen involved though...then you have glutamin then a y for adding another amino acid then larginylt (never heard of that amino acid) then another y for another amino acid and so forth....though i havent heard of over half those amino acids...

No. It's much simpler than that. The scientists get high on cocaine then see what name they can come up with, the longer and more incomprehensible the better.

haha, I knew I should have been a scientists

I found something about the world's longest place names... now there's someone who's been experimenting a little too much with the local drugs How fucked up do you need to be to call something names like

Krungthep Mahanakhon Bovorn Ratanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokpop Noparatratchathani Burirom Udomratchanivet Mahasathan Amornpiman Avatarnsathit Sakkathattiyavisnukarmprasit, meaning the 'City of Angels', is known to the locals as Krungthep Mahanakhon. The rest of the world knows it as Bangkok, Thailand. However, it is not recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the longest place name as it is not used on a daily basis by the locals.

The city with the longest name in common usage is in New Zealand. Taumatawhakatangihangakoauotamateturipukakapikimau ngahoro-Nukupokaiwhenua kitanatahu translates as the 'place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as land-eater, played his flute to his loved one'. This is the place name recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch currently has the prestige of having the UK's longest place name.
A child's rhyme stuck in my head.
It said that life is but a dream.
I've spent so many years in question
to find I've known this all along.
