      The Halloween Ghost Stories Thread

      Hello all!
      Before I start, I'd like to give a "Happy Halloween!" shout to everyone. So:

      "Happy Halloween!"

      Oky doky. This thread hardly needs explaining. Post your scary stories here, whether fact, fiction or a local legend from your area.

      I wasn't sure on where to put this thread so, mods, move it if you like.

      I'll begin with a little thing I know that supposedly happened where I grew up although I think many places claim it originated in their area just for the fun of it. It really doesn't have the same effect when written out but I'll share it anyway. Here we go:

      -----------------------------------------------

      A young couple were driving across the moors in a midnight rain storm. The roads were deserted and the only light was coming from the car's headlights. The rain pelted down onto the car roof heavily when there was a sudden splutter that came from the car's hood. The man pulled over as steam billowed from the front of the car.

      "Ah crap!" he said, "I'm gonna get soaked!"

      "What's up with the car?" his wife said.

      "Not sure but I'll have a look."

      The man got opened his door and a strong wind howled itself into the car.
      "Stay in the car, love," he said, "It's horrible out here." After looking at the engine he went to the back to get his toolbox.

      The woman sat in the car in silence, watching the rain pour down the window. She had just begun to think that he was taking a long time at the rear of the car when there was a heavy THUD! on the roof. She didn't know what to think and put it down to a small piece of debris caught inthe gusts. Suddenly it happend again, a clear, hard THUD! sounded on the roof. She assumed it must be her husband on the roof but could think of no reason why he would be clambering over the top of the car.

      She was about to get out and see what was going on when she saw a pulsing set of lights in the disctance, blue and red. She squinted hard and noticed it was coming from six police cars and an ambulance approaching her. They stopped about fifty feet in front of her and the officers stepped out. One took out a megaphone and spoke to her.

      "Get out of the vehicle and walk slowly towards us!" he yelled.

      She thought she was in some kind of trouble with the law and began panicing, trying to remember if she had done something wrong recently, when suddenly he added:

      "...and whatever you do, don't look back. I repeat, do not turn around!"

      It now occurred to her that she was in some kind of danger but had no idea what. Another THUD! sounded on the roof as she slowly opened her door.

      She stepped out of the car, shaking a little and began to walk, slowly, towards the police. When she beame within a few strides she could no longer help herself. She whirled around, just as she reached the armed officers, only to be greeted with a horrific sight.

      On the roof of the car there wa a frightening looking man. He was wearing a straight jacket that had been torn, to free his arms, and had a terrifying grin on his face. He looked blindly into mid-air. It took no genius to see that this man was psychotic. In his hand was an object of some sort that he was bouncing on the car roof with a heavy thud.

      "What is that in his hand?" thought the woman. She looked closely, only to be met by a familiar face. Through the vision-blurring rain, she could now see plainly, it was the severed head of her dear husband.

      THUD!

      -----------------------------------------------

      Again, I'll say, I think it has a lot less efect when typed out than when it's told by word of mouth but it's only a starter. I have some better ones for later. Tell your friends about this thread! ... because I don't have any ...

      The White Satin Evening Gown

      hahaha! oooh have i got some stories.. uhm.. i'd have to go find. my book.. there.. ahh. here we go.. not the best one but.. makes you not want to shop at thrift stores anymore

      A young man invited a young woman to a formal dance. But she was very poor, and she could not afford to buy the evening gown she needed for such and oocasion.
      "Maybe you can rent a dress" her mother said. So she went to a pawnshop not far from where she lived. There she found a white satin evening gown in her size. Shel ooked lovely in it, and she was able to rent it for very little.
      When she arrived at the dance with her friend, she was so attractive, everyone watned to meed her. She danced again and again and was having a wonderful time. But then she began to feel dizzy and faint, and she asked her friend to take her home. "I think I may have danced too much," she told him
      When she got home, she lay down on ehr bed. The next morning her mother found that her daughter had died. The doctor did not understand what had caused her death. So he had the coroner perform an autopsy.
      The cororner found that she had been poisoned by embalming fluid. It had stopped her blood from flowing. There were traces of the fluid on her dress. He decided it had entered her skin when she perspired while she was dancing.
      The pawnbroker said he bought the dress from an undertakers' helper. It had been used in a funeral for another young woman and the helper had stolen it just before she was buried.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Like i said, not the best. I'll get better ones.. oh trust me, i'll get them
      *shines the flashlight up on her face*
      One day, in the not-too-distant future, there will be 500 channels on television....
      .....and nothing to watch.
      *screams*
      One time there was a person on a computer, in their room. Oh yeah, it was also dark. Then, outta nowhere, a ghost appeared and they had rough naughty wet sex. That was a nice ghost.
      I remember once, I came home from the local only to find a little eyeball hovering in the middle of my room. It just sort of bobbed about on the same spot in mid-air for a while. I didn't want to touch it but put my hand over the air above it in hope of catching some invisible strings tghat were holding it up but there was nothing. It turned, as I walked around it, ever-watching me. It dripped onto the carpet wth a transparent fluid but I suddenly blinked and it was gone. Although there was a little puddle on the carpet the next morning.
      ... I don't drink a lot of alcohol. I only ever drink mojitos which have a load of tonic water and ice in them so unless it was spiked or I forgot I had taken mushrooms ...
      Oh my, the puddle on the floor seem's illogical i wonder how it happend. you think if the eye dissapered the puddle would have gone with it.
      True: I was siting at the dinner table around 6:00 at night eating a bowl of frosted flakes. Infront of me is a glass candle holder that is about a foot high and has a bowl shaped hollow opening at the top so a candle could be placed in it. Also inside the bottom of the bowl was gold sand that the candle would sit on. Please note that the candle inside the holder has never been lit and it is just usede for decoration. So back to the action, after i was done eating the frosted flakes i brought the bowl up to my face in order to consume the milk. At the exsact momenty the bowl of the candle holder EXPLODED. Shards of glass came flying at me and cut my arms and my fingers. I just thank god i was drinking the milk at that moment or i could have been injured perrty badly. I don't know why it exploded but it scared the nipples right off of me.
      I should be floating, but I'm weighted by thinking
      Christ!
      What the Hell...?
      And ... well, it wasn't a puddle exactly. More of a damp patch. Could have been anything but I figured I'd make it more interesting
      Thats still perrty f-ing weird man. I got a sick real ghost story to. This one might make your hair stand on end. I swear the following is true and goes unexplained to this day, this happend to my buddy and is validated by police......
      So my buddy's grandparents were sleeping like normal one night and it was around 2:00 in the morning when there was a disturbance at their rural farm home. Then 2 men from the local police department were pounding on the door franticaly. The 2 grandparents woke up and rushed down to see who was there. The policemen were calm at this point because they did not want to frighten the grandparents who had just obviously woken up. One of the policeman said that he had received three phone calls from this location around the hour of 1:00 all with no noise on the other end. Natrually the policeman found this curious and thats why they went to the home in the first place. The grandparents re-esured the policeman that they had been sleeping since 10:00. The grandparents then allowed the policemen to search their home for any break-in. They found no evidence of a break-in but what they did find was a phone dangling off the hook.
      I should be floating, but I'm weighted by thinking
