So EVERYBODY who has an "experience" with one of these things is just being tricked???
Not necessarily - some people contend that if the group as a whole expects a certain answer to appear, they may each subconsciously push it extremely slightly towards that spot, or even just have less resistance towards motion in that direction.
This sort of phenomenon can be seen using a hula hoop and a group of friends - suspend the hula hoop above your heads, and make each person make a 'gun' sign with their hands, so that the hula hoop is resting on ONLY the index fingers of each person in the group. Then, try to lower the hula hoop without anyone losing contact. Invariably, everyone will blame everyone else for keeping the hula hoop up - the mysterious upwards force results from each person trying to keep in contact with it and pushing it upwards very slightly.
Another cool application of this general concept is the magic trick involving holding someone's hand and wiggling it about gently when looking for a hidden object. When the person knows where the object is, they will have less resistance to motion in the general direction of the object. People with sensitive hands can take advantage of this to locate hidden objects by 'reading their mind' while just holding their hand.
Chris Angel once did that trick at a car dealership - he had one of the dealers hide a set of keys in one of their thousands of cars, and then walked around holding his hand for a few hours until he was sure he had the right one, from the tiny changes in resistance.
