I have a passion for words and vocabulary. I can't look up a word without spending hours in the dictionary (and I do that sometimes anyway). does anyone else share this passion or am I just a total nerd?

We've all got our passions. Words are pretty cool, and I enjoy reading about word origins, but that's about it for me.
Now give me a 10 gallon container of grapes and watch me go!
In fact, I am starting a 5 gallon batch of wine tonight.
:D
I'm a nerd...
snort snort. Me too. :goodjob2:
I'm such a dork...the site I go to most (aside from this one) is dictionary.com. I get lost in it...I look up a word then see a word in the definition and look it up...then go over and look it up in the thesarus!
I love dictionary. com.. hehe
I know lots of words, but grammaticly Im like a 5th grader =)
Lost soul helped me out with my grammer a bit though, I am however running out of punctuation again...
Lil help?
Nerd here too, Im a discovery/history/animalplanet channel kinda guy... oo that gives me an idea.
lol. glad to know I'm not entirely alone.
some of my biggest pet peeves are when people use 'r' 'u' 'ur' 'y' '2' etc. etc. in place of words. :( also I cannot make a post if there is a word in it that I have doubts about the spelling. ALSO, when people are on T.V., and they say something like "He was littler then." (I can't forget that) I mean come on, LITTER!?!? *ugh*...
Ô_Ô Dummkopfs!
Oh, that doesn't necessarily mean you're a nerd...
I'm always double-checking myself, looking up synonyms/antonyms, etc., etc,...I'm even on the mailing list for the 'word of the day' feature! It's very educational! :smartie:
I mean, writing is something I enjoy, and for to be satisfied with my ability to get things down on paper...well, that's just important...so, of course this sort of thing is natural to do.
My english grammar is like a complete mess, but thats because its not my native language so ont blaim me..
I'm with ya, Paperdoll...
I keep www.m-w.com open in a separate window whenever I'm online and I constantly look words up. Sometimes I even look words up that I already basically know, just to be sure of the exact definition.
I enjoy writing and I always get frustrated when I can't think of the proper word for a situation. A new word is a new weapon and I'm happy to learn 'em. :D
yup. it's annoying.Quote:

As I think we concluded in another thread, language can be a limiter,
Music, now that is a much more expressivle language, I have also found that with people akin to you, not nessesarily soul mates, but hey who knows... Me and My friend Scott, (been freinds for a long ass time)
We can communicate using single words, like Dude, or Fuck, hey we are newyorkers and from an island hehe.
The internet makes things tricky as there is no tone or inflection.
no inflection...
hello y'all!
Where am I from?
i know what you mean by the littler thing
argh so irritating
people just make up these words that dont even sound right
or when they sad
badder =/
"Littler" is correct English! :P
little + smaller = littler?
"Littler" is a real word. It's the comparative form of "little".
"Smaller" is the comparative form of "small".
you're kidding me.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=littler
I rest my case. Try for a second opinion at www.m-w.com if you like.
eeww it is too =P
but badder isn't :P
let's see... here's my opinion... if you find a _good_ book, it is better than tv... the problem is, at least for me, it is hard to find a good book and easy to find a good tv show for me... for me books can give emotions and last longer than movies and they give more joy or saddness or frustration... jeez, I sound like one of you guys... I'm still looking for a good book...
How bout moby dick?? Dick haha... What is that about... is it easy to read... how do you like it if you read it??
Also, if you guys would watch some more tv... pshhh... then you would remember the spongebob squarepants episode when spongebob has some sort of obe, astral projection... He knows he is dreaming and goes into other people's dreams by going to their house as some sort of ghost and hops into their "dream bubble" and talks to them... Here are the dreams he goes through (that I can remember)...
With Patrick...
Patrick is in a giant white room, Matrix style kinda, where he is riding one of those little quarter powered horseys and when spongebob comes he says... hey Patrick, why are you doing that when you can do anything?? You can make hundreds of yourselfs (he then makes hundreds of him self) Patrick said, "Hey spongebob, do you have any quarters"??
With Mr. Crabs...
Mr. Crabs is fishing "for his mona!!!" and is searching for the great... MOBY DOLLAR!!!. When he catches it he tells spongebob to get "the net" and he get's a tiny net and then he says, no the OTHER net... Spongebob gets a giant wallet... when he puts the wallet (with the giant dollar in it) down, it hops away...
With Squidward...
I'm pretty sure this is what happens... Squidward is playing Clarinet for some king or something and he makes his clarinet break and spongebob becomes his clarinet and get's all the glory...
I'm too lazy to write the rest but later in real life they come to his house and all say "STAY OUT OF OUR DREAMS"!!
*giggle* I remember that one.
here is a word for you.
Oxpilliant
You wont find it in the dictionary.
"When someone brings a certain weirdness to a situation, in a way that it makes no sense and at the same time makes perfect sense"
:D
Quagmire is an awsome word, along with cacophony
Good ones. I like "clandestine" and "metamorphic" and "subterfuge".Quote:
