Cartoon Network?! yay~ :rolllaugh:
actually I really don't watch much T.V. at all...
I don't watch tv, it's a collective disease used to keep the people down. It's the largest sedative ever created. It's also a tool for oversocialization, brainwashing, and the shortening of the attention span(and shit, mine's so fucking short already!). I personally think it is an evil tool in the hands of those whose hands it is in.
 niiiiice....
I totally own the History Channel and Animal Planet. :D
Hmm, seems to me it's a symptom, not the infection itself. I don't really watch much TV because the majority just isn't worth watching, but I don't think it's designed as a sedative, it's just in our society, people want to be sedated and have one readily to hand. Whatever, whenever.Quote:

I just think there are better things you could be doing with your time, like reading and writing, learning or teaching, listening to music, drawing, or spending time with people you care about...heh, or meditating. for me, t.v. is pretty much a waste of time. I watch it occasionally..but that's it.
True, reading's got TV all beat to crap. Although it does depend on the book and author I guess but the feeling of immersion with fiction can't be realised in the same way on TV.Quote:

I usually watch a little Nick-at-nite to relax before bed.
Of course weekend breakfast would not be complete without SpongeBob Square pants on the kitchen TV!
Spongebob. lol.
OHHHHHHHHHHH
Wholivesinapinapple under da sea
SPONGEBOBSQUAREPANTS
Im not sedated, I dont watch TV that much because most of it is crap, history and discovery is great though, since I cannot get my ass to hawaii or japan at the moment, I can learn and see using TV... Also.. I think you might change your mind a little if you have seen some of the newer things on the Disc HD channel...
They had a japanese film artist follow humpack whales,
His passion,
I was absolutely moved by the way he presented them, incredibly intelligent, compassionate, creatures, mirrors of ourselves, they truly are our cousins.
It was very powerful, it allowed me to see how this man experiences the world and made me remember why I was facinated with whales and dolphins as a child. really good stuff...
Just about everybody says that they "don't watch that much TV"... I pretend not to, at least. But I have to watch Clone Wars, ya know?
Most really popular TV shows just make me want to smash my set, for whatever that's worth. About the same goes for the news.
I don't really watch TV that much..mabey the news or something and a few interesting things, further more I just watch movies/DVD's that I like..thats pretty much it
are you trying to imply that spongebob isn't "interesting"? :-P
Uhhh..no comment
haha...
Ok.... seriously.... does any one here know anything about ANY laws, or anything that is currently going on the country? At all?
The FCC pretty much gave away our goddamn free media. They just destroyed it. They're corporatising it, just like everything else. I don't need those corporations! I'm not subservient to them. I certainly don't need my mind filled with crap from advertising tycoons all day, and that is what tv is. I'm not saying the medium is bad, I'm saying the medium is bad right now becaue it's being controlled. And even if you think all this great stuff about the Discovery channel, or whatever, thats cool. I agree, there is a lot of information to be gained. But to say that all the advertising and commericals that go on on the Discovery channel are somehow "better" or something than the rest of the crap on other stations, well, I think that's a little ridiculous.
Oh yeah, and personally it bothers me that our news stations are all controlled by pretty much the same monopoly any more, and that the latest dissolving of FCC regulations are destroying our ability to keep local and independent news sources. A single news company can now own two stations in the same market, allowing the flow of original ideas and better local news handlers fall to a trickle , as the corporate sieve tightens. The FCC's "no questions asked" merger of the largest television station and most dominant newspaper gives one single company control over 40% of the television audience, 70% of the newspaper reading audience and control of nearly two thirds of newsroom staffing in the market today.
That blows. I'm all about free media, and when they try to destroy that through corporate means... well... I'll do my own fucking protest against television and I think others should become more aware of the facts. Not to mention there have been studies that show that long-term, extended television watching actually has a similar effect on the brain as doing heroin(non-conclusive, but still). So... all you "drugs are bad" people might want to think about that a little.
Plus, like everyone else pointed out... there's always something better to be doing than watching fucking television.
Never said anything about commercials... and discovery HD dosent have any, they only show previews for the other programs on that station. Which is NICE... for the most part commercials are a chance to go do something else =)
Ok is it really windy anywhere else? its near hurricane here,
Good to hear that about Discovery. I like the channel a lot, but I'm boycotting it all right now, books are better.
:reading: *looks up for one second* books, w00t!
books are good, I think I am going to read the space oddesy series since it has been spoken of as of late and has my interest =)
But I dont think you would have appreciated Those humpacks as much without actually seeing them with your eyes, its not the same as actually seeing them, but jeez... its getting close now, HD is an awsome medium.
I do agree with you though... the media is a mess... its all a joke, and look.. politics are turning into the media.
Books... I devour them!
I just finished reading the last issue of MARS. *sniffle* What a wonderful story. *squeals* Oh! And there's an extra book coming out, too! Sort of an epilogue I guess. And TokyoPop has decided to transelate it and put it out. Willow is happy! http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/b/boogie.gif
As for TV, I never miss CSI. If I have to work, my mom will record it for me. Other than that, I really don't watch TV under normal circumstances. But since I've become a temporary cripple, I've taken to watching it a bit more than usual. This is a bad thing. Now I'm addicted to Court TV, the History Channel, and the show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
I love books, but as I said in another thread, most of my time is spent trying to keep up on technology.
I am 4 issues behind in reading my Scientific America!
I like to watch the local 24 hour news network in my area, and the normal cbs, nbc, fox...I love certain shows like the King of queens, yes dear, malcolm in the middle, king of the hill and simpsons....I pretty much flip through everything like discovery, animal planet, diy, home and garden, cnn, msnbc....I watch too much tv sometimes.
Yeah, I watch discovery too, and comedy central.
I don't mind what the FCC does to television. It's what they do to the radio they can goto hell for.
