I hate Pcs. I love Macs. You?
I've used both (iMac, eMac w/OSX) and PC since DOS 6.22, now WinXP Pro. I have a HUGE preference for PC. The Mac is good for multimedia and whatnot, or so I hear, and it's a nice gooey OS, but to be honest, PC is tried and true, has never (well, rarely :-P) failed me, is so mainstream that anything and everything works great on it, and it does everything I need it to do. There is absolutely no reason for me to switch (especially considering the cost of Macs! UGH!) Although I love the one with the swivel, height/angle adjusting LCD monitor, that's a sweet design :)
Nothing personal against the Mac, great machine, just not for me!
They both have their place.
But I find PC to be more rounded...
When people talk about Macs Vs PCs, they tend to think of Windows vs MacOS. I prefer Linux to both of those, and Linux can run on PC or Mac hardware, so I have no real preference ;)
I'd have to go with pc because macs are more expensive and do the exact same thing.
PC>Mac.
go Pc -_-
Hate macs...like PC's, love capitalism...not :P
But yeah, macs suck big time...
We love Bill Gates  PCs - 9, Macs - ZERO.
PC does not = Windows...
It might as well. :D
They did something right in Windows Server 2003, if you disregaurd the price.
I'm an outcast wherever I go :(
Mac. I use both, prefer mac.
lol, all mac users are outcasts. That's why they have macs.
I have a friend that I have known for like 10 years, he always had a mac. We play games a lot over the internet. You would be surpised how many games take an extra year to come out on the mac, after it already came out on pc. Plus macs have problems with patches and stuff for a lot of the games where you can't play with PC. Both lose out but since 90% of the people are normally on a PC it hurts them more.
So while I have nothing againt them I wouldn't want a mac.
(time to diss a mac).
Macs are good for not having viruses:
(if you don't get that then it's implying there's only 10 mac users)Quote:
Virus: I don't mind infecting PC's but like, a Mac, I would never infect them. I mean, it would only stop work for like, 10 people worldwide.[/b]
Steve Jobs is also an asshole.
I definately perfer PCs! When you have to haul around 30 macs around in a single day you might think that way, too.... Those things are too friggin-awful heavy to frickin carry!!!!!
And the regular Mac 2-part machines aren't any better.
-Amé
Not enough (or takes to long before they get released on mac) programs that I want to use on the PC are available for mac.
you know this post is weird. wer owns a frickin pc
macs definately. PC's suck and have too many problems.
truthbearer is right PC stands for Personal Computer, so i could call a mac a PC and have it make sense (well, unless its a server or sumthin which in fact is NOT personal)Quote:

Macs are better at video editing and special effects and whatnot, but i would never get one because whats the point of buying a whole nuther computer just for one feature when i gots a comp right here thats like 10x faster that what mac claims to be "the fastest personal personal computer ever"
PC>HTPC>MAC
only if you're a retard and dont know how to keep your PC virus free/spyware free and do proper uninstalls/reinstalls.Quote:

But, I guess if all you do is available on the Mac, then that'd be better for you yeah.
I don't know why Mac users think Windows is still in the stone age...I rarely have problems with XP Pro.
i like both macs and PCs as much as the next guy, but ever notice that its always the MAC lovers that start teh arguments about it... Just thought id point that out...
i like atari  o  wait no i like atari it beats them all "the chicks did the large joystick" ok what ever this box by life is in then i pick you pc
Macintosh computers are really good quality. I have three PCs and two macs. I love my macs! I also love my PC's, but guess what? I HATE WINDOWS! It sucks hardcore. On my Pc's I have a small windows partition to run games. That's it! I refuse to use the internet on windows. It's a virus whore, which is bad quality. Anyone here ever used Suse 9.1, or Debian? These are distributions of Linux. The quality of them is 10 times better than windows. I also Like OS X a whole lot better than windows. No, people who use macintoshes are not idiots who don't know how to un install and reinstall programs or whatever. Listen, I install operating systems onto my computers on a weekly basis. I'm not an idiot. In my opinion, it's just more efficient to not have to worry about viruses in the first place!!! The linux community is growing, and more games are being distributed for it, which is the only area that linux is lacking.
Hi Gwen! You've been gone for about 3 weeks, glad you are back!
I've seen personal evolve from the late 1970's. I've got to say that there is now more interconnectivity and power than ever before. This is mainly throught the effors of Bill Gates and his Windows operating system.
Yes, sure, we laughed at him in 1983 when we got our first copy of MS-DOS. We thought, who is this guy and why does he think HE is better than the PC-DOS that shipped with IBM.
Guess I am a diehard Windows user!
Windows does suck to a certain extent, and it is pretty limited, but to be honest, I'd rather have a slightly less-well-rounded operating system as a tradeoff for a million different programs I can install :) even with the few bugs it has, XP is an eternity better than '98. They fixed a LOT of stuff...XP is very stable for me.
Oh and is it any wonder there are no viruses for Mac or Linux? 98% of the world uses windows :-P (don't quote me on the damn figure either ;) )
Quite honestly though, I don't understand how people get so much spyware/viruses. I've been using XP for the past 4 years...Not one virus. Even when I had antivirus software, not once did it pick up a virus.
Linux has Blender, which doesn't cost half of your house and your right kidney.
I must say though, if linux wasn't open source, and didn't have device files, WIndows Server 2003 would own. Longhorn looks good, as long as they (hopefully) get rid of all the bugs.
Did anyone else read how Microsoft was going to provide updates for it's "non-paying users" in order to stop worms and so forth? That's kinda funny...
You mean to say that you pay for software? ;)Quote:

Longhorn. OMG that will be an interestin piece of work. I've been involved in migrating product to/from all Microsoft releases from DOS 3.x all the way up to XP Pro, with all the releases in between.
I've got to say that 95 and 98 were easy. ME was very bad.
I cannot wait to see what challenges are waiting for me in Longhorn. Now that Microsoft has committed to the managed code world with technology like .NET, I hope they at least optimize the OS to handle it well!
Some people have been using price to keep the Mac down. Though I don't prefer Macs, you just have to see it through Apple's eyes. When you don't control a large majority of the consumer market as Microsoft does, then you have to price your products higher to make up the dividends. It's marketing basics.
Now I don't particularly like Mac because they're pretty slow in comparison to most computers I've dealt with (although the G5 seems very fast; just to let you know IBM is making similiar processors for the Xbox Next or Xenxon as codenamed). They're pretty slow: pretty and slow (and I'm pretty corny). Yeah, I like the graphical interface and all, but when it comes down to it, you want an efficient computer, not a good looking one (though it just feels better that way ;))
Non-Mac PCs seem to have a better array of patches (maybe not Linux, but the community will provide for itself I suppose). Windows is covered just because of the end-user base community it has. Though it seems evil to some, it's actually a good cycle you want to aspire to as a software manufacturer:
[Almost] everyone uses your product. Every company that makes software is then going to want to center it's design on your product. Thus more people see the broadness of having your product. They make the patches for your product. They make the hardware designed for your product. Your product seems invincible, more reliable, when it actually is just as vulnerable then the next guy's (viruses are most focused on a Windows community than a Mac or Linux because of how many people use it, and Linux especially seems great, but it fact it's a double plus that many Linux users are...well, not stupid. The average Windows user is more likely to open "Vacation pictures.tdf" from a complete stranger than a Linux user).
So I like my PC that runs Windows. I do. It hasn't given me a "bluescreen of death" once in almost 2 years, contrary to popular criticism of the Operation System. It's actually very reliable, and I even do some picture editing on it. I game on it, which is not that easy to do on a Mac, let alone Linux. I feel good with the software because I know it has "Cycle" and product updates will always be available when I need them (can't say this for MS itself, but at least they try...).
*Dramatic Music plays, and a big Windows flag is lowered behind me in the background*
"And when I load Call of Duty, or simply do a quick fix in Photoshop, I simply say 'GOD BLESS WINDOWS'!
And when I look at a secure network system, I say, 'GOD BLESS LINUX!'
And when I see Steve Jobs on television, earning his third jet, I say, 'GOD BLESS....AMERICA!'
Because only in America can a CEO be paid nothing and earn everything, and a fragile man with an big operating system be paid everything and earn nothing!"
Uhh....wait-- did I just...contradict--umm............ :? :o
ME makes me sad. .NET is cool, and I hope it works out well. The idea is great.
Edit: Fedora Core 2 comes with this "up2date" thing now, which would be great if it would get the 150 updates.
