How've I never seen that before, that's gorgeous, I might use it as my desktop background now too. That's an actual place? I always thought the banner was something that someone rendered in OpenGL or Photoshop or something. |
I think it's safe to say that the obviously texturised mountains, pixelated ground and the moon with its own satellites show quite clearly that it is indeed a rendered 3D image. |
Is it Terragen? I've always wanted to learn how to use that. |
Oh yeah. I never had any thought that it was a real place, but I just thought I'd post it back onto DV as the old thread has gone somewhere. |
You should definitely check it out. It's not that hard to use. I've only had it for a couple of days, now, and I'm coming up with some pretty good stuff already. |

Quite a cool pic, and O, those are some cool pics man. Didn't know you were trying out Terragen. I'll have to round up some of my old renders, and maybe make some new ones. I've got the current version and the beta of the new version. Have you tried any moonlit scenes yet? |
Thanks, Steel. Do you have a url for where I can download the beta for Tg2? Or do they have it on the main site, somewhere that I overlooked it? I haven't tried anything moonlit yet because I'm also trying to work out how to import Terragen terrains into Blender3D. I'd really want to be able to integrate an actual moonscape texture onto the moon (which I don't think you can do with Terragen alone), unless I have the moon mostly covered by clouds, and it's just the glare from the moon that is visible. |
