...Greek?
i'd like to learn it over PM's, but here's fine too...
I learnt Ancient Greek for a year. Not easy.
Different alphabet makes everything that little bit harder. Dipthong, anyone? :?
hence the statement "It's all Greek to me."
can you teach me anyway? i don't care about dificulty.
I certainly couldn't. I remember nothing of my year's learnings. :P
ahh..... that sucks (for me anyway...)
I had 3 years of ancient Greek.
Don't. Just don't.
Language learning isn't that simple :P...
But you can start with my avatar.
um... what does it mean?
.....with no experience at all?
im looking for a teacher, not a confuser.
no offense spart.
oi.
I could have learnt Greek but decided against it because:
1. It was during lunch time
2. Only the "nerd" crowd learnt it
3. Latin is hard enough
4. New alphabet? No thanks.
Your choice though. Personally I would recommend latin instead. You can pick it up a lot quicker and could get away with not having a teacher... for a while. Also there are links to english which help when learning.
Latin is easier. Stick to an alphabet you know. And don't ask us to teach you.
Indeed Sindred. Latin's hard enough being taught it by a decent teacher without having to pass on knowledge.
is latin LIKE greek though? i'm very interested in Greek......everything.
Yeah it's like Greek-lite.
k.... do u know latin?
Are we talking about ancient or modern greek?
ancient
I recommend you change your mind.
Gamma Nu Omega Theta Iota
Sigma Alpha something Tau Omega Nu
Gnothi Sa-ton
What does that mean?
[edit] "Know Thyself"
I cheated :-P
P.S. Y = Upsilon. I dunno why i never remember. lol.
Why would you want to know ancient greek anyway? :wtf:
I'm guessing Goldney and Sin are in Latin as well? Not sure if it's worth it, I've been considering taking Spanish I over the summer and starting junior year with Spanish II. Latin is much too difficult.:P
Oh, and...
It's going to be so hard to learn a language. Especially an ancient one. No one that's not qualified will be willing or even able to.
You need to learn the alphabet, and then vocabulary, and then conjugation, then grammar, sentence structure, composition, etc...i used to take French for like 6 years and i still have not the faintest idea how to speak it. But maybe that's just me. :-P
[edit] I forgot pronunciation.
well.... i like ancient greece. i guess that sums it up, and it seems like a good time-waster.
