The Feel Good Thread

You know, I've been feeling kinda down lately; I've started to realize how depressing reality can be.

I figured, this must happen to everybody, and I got a great idea. I've been part of this forum only for a short while, but I've already seen how amazingly nice people are here. What if we amplified that niceness?

This is a thread to post something nice about someone. The person above you, someone you know, someone you talked to on the forum; anyone. But lets just relax, smile, and feel good.

My first one is for Clarity. You've always been extremely kind and encouraging to me, I'm sure you don't really remember, but you've helped me with all of my questions that I've had, no matter how mundane or redundant. Thanks for being so nice!

      Aww! What a great thread.

Well I have a lot of good things to say about a lot of people on here.. but let's start with Lucid Seeker. He is such a nice guy, and he is always there when you need someone to talk to. He gives great advice and wants the best for everyone.

First of all, awesome thread. This was needed, and will be appreciated I'm sure.

I'll start with... Amethyst Star. She ALWAYS cheers me up, sometimes just by being in the same chatroom. Like right now. Twenty minutes ago, I was in a bad mood. Then Amé came into chat and just by being there has cheered me up. She's always got a kind word to say, she's always polite, discreet, and she's just generally great. No, make that awesome. Sheer awesome.

      Amethyst Star rocks.

      Hard.

      Rock hard.

      What a lovely thread!

Clairity - She's always kind and generous. She's the type of person I can trust and depend on. She always has something nice to say, and many hugs to give. Always helping newbies out, very thoughtful about everything, and truly cares about how everyone feels.

Mos - He is another who is thoughtful in situations. He is truly a great friend, and cares about his friends. He has a great sense of humor, spectacular vocabulary, and I throughly respect him.

Ranma - He can make me laugh like no other. No matter what, he puts a smile on my face. Great sense of humor as well, and a good friend.

Ame - One of the kindest people I know here. She is very respectful, has an ear to lend, and gives great hugs, always. She is honestly a great friend, because she listens. When all is going crazy you can always expect a sensible reply from Ame.

A lot of interesting people here, way too many to cover all at once.

NeAvO, apart from being one of the first people I met on the forums, has always been a hell of an interesting guy to talk to. Does a pretty good job too (despite extended absences ).

Mes is a fantastic friend, still can't get over her personality... It's... infectious .

Oh and props to pj, Burns and Seeker (and all staff for that matter) for keeping the forums running, I can only imagine how much work that is.

      Oh yeah!

      Great thread idea!

I'll do you first PS! PS is very persistent and stands up for what he believes in in any light. Which is pretty much commendable.

M-Cat is hilarious when you get through the sarcasm.

      Onus is very thought provoking.

Mes is very funny and cute. And she claims to know everything, but I don't doubt it.

Clairity is excessively nice, but it's great.

skysaw plays chapman, which makes him amazing. He's cool though even without it.

PJ listens to excellent music and is pretty cool.

Universal Mind is a very intelligent person, and is great to discuss things with.

Mark75 would like to have his smiley be this:

I got more, but I'm going to go explore other threads now.

Okay. When did I claim to know everything? I must have been drunk at the time.

Seismosaur has been shocking me with his ability to hold very well-informed and articulate conversations. I definitely was not that awesome at his age. Well done, man.

I've only recently been interacting with Stephent91, and I'm so glad to have "met" him! Very funny guy.

Spartiate is some sort of genuis and quite shockingly awesome in every other way. Makes me love Canada.

I love Burns. She's really sweet, has a great taste in clothes, knows all about hair, and loves animals.

Thanks Stephen91, you're just a big ole softy proved by the addition to your freaky avatar!

      Ok.. MY TURN!

MoS, always a gentleman and can always make me laugh!

Ame, a sweet gentle caring lady! She gives her all to make sure everyone else is ok and gives great "hug" emoticons!

Mes, always tries to see the other guy's point of view and looks for the best in everyone.

All of the DV staff.. incredible people who somehow manage to keep this forum running and still maintain their sanity and a sense of humor!

I know I'll be adding to this thread!

One late autumn night, the disciple awoke crying. So the master asked the disciple, "Did you have a nightmare?" "No." "Did you have a sad dream?" "No," said the disciple. "I had a sweet dream." "Then why are you crying so sadly?" The disciple wiped his tears away and quietly answered, "Because the dream I had can't come true."

A disciple asked his master, "Do the leaves flow or is it the wind?" His master replied, "No, it is the heart and the mind."

Hell, so many people I wouldn't even know where to start. Haha.

Well, just to name a few:

Clairity: Of course. Haha. Her cheerfulness is infectious. She's one of the single most positive and charming people I've ever had the pleasure to meet, whether online or IRL. (And she has a devilish streak in her that makes her all the more likeable Haha.)

Burns: Again, very upbeat and cheerful. Smart, attractive and caring.

Steel: Great sense of humor and just an all-around cool guy.

Adam: Same as Steel, but with an English twist. Lol.

Twoshadows: One of my favorite people here. Very cheerful and sincere. Quite the adventurer and an even better photographer.

Ame: Fellow and just a pretty badass chick, overall.

Jeff: My brotha' from anotha' motha'.

Italianmonkey: Another one of my favorite members. Just a very bright and friendly personality. It's almost hard not to smile at the beaming smile that the character on her avatar has, and I think it fits her personality just right.

Don't feel bad if I left anybody out. I'll be adding to this more, later, I'm sure.

      So totally agreed.

I have my favourites among the DV members. Mostly for the funnies, but occasionally those of you who contribute seriously too, you little prudes, you.

Grod, Kromoh, Lucidbulbs, MoS, Nina, De-louse, Patience, Xox, Mes, Umbrasquall...even Carou, but don't tell him.

Awww, thanks Mes, that made my day

Here is my list, and i'm really sorry if i miss someone out, i hate to do so but i cannot remember everyone, but i will add to the list as i remember.

Adam - Forgot to mention him, but now here it is. Adam is a very wise and understanding guy even though he is not that old yet. Though he is older than me i do feel that i have learned a great deal from him. He is kind, caring and is always willing to help out when he can. I have had my friction with him for selfish reasons and i am glad that we are still talking even after that. Its good to know that we have such an awesome guy here. Like many you have inspired me to do something with my life and take charge, even though i do moan a bit.

Mes - Has to be one of the best members here on DV. Kind, sweet and always helpful to not just me but to others as well. Your always lifting the spirit in this forum and adding a hint of happiness when things are pretty shitty. I salute you

pj - You have made my life seem so much more clear through our chats, you have introduced me to great people and i feel that if i can put in the effort i will get what i want out of life, all thanks to you. pj is kind, extremely helpful, tolerant, caring and always wiling to offer advice when he can. Inspirational is one of the best words to describe pj. Thanks a lot for everything you have given and offered me so far.

Clairity - You had to make my list, if you didn't i would probably be having a nightmare. Well Clairity, your awesome, always helping me out when i ask for help and what is awesome is that you are genuinly kind and helpful, caring as well. Not spoken to you via PM in a while, but you live up to the name still around the forum!

skysaw - My oh my if i could grow up to be anyone i would be skysaw. Many achievements and always willing to help me hopefully achieve my own dreams one day. I admire his success and use it as inspiration, he is proof that if you put in the effort you can achieve great things in life. Plus your recommendations and more have continued to encourage me. skysaw will continue to inspire me, whether it be his fantstic pieces or his encouraging words.

Lucidbulbs - Mi-Chan, no forgetting you! You have been a grear friend upon joining and i'm glad i joined this forum, otherwise i would not know you. Its been great having conversations via PM and email. Your extremely helpful, very caring and its great to talk to you, i feel that you have helped me pick up the pieces and set me back on track with life and i am very grateful. *Hands over some green tea*.

Lucius - Glad i met him, great guy, he's always helping me out, just wish i could help him out at times. Its a shame he isn't around as much anymore, but i'm glad we are still in contact.

ranma187 - One of the best, always trying to help me out when he can, especially in help threads i make and i really appreciate it since it is people like him which are rare to find nowadays. Thanks a lot.

NeAvO - I misunderstood NeAvO when first joining, i felt threatened because of his staff placement, but through talking i have gained a lot of respect for him, he's extremely helpful and always willing to listen when i am in need, so thanks mate. I'll leave it at that, if i say anything cheesy i will probably have to pay him extra money

And to everyone else, i have asked for lots of help over the year i have been here and i must say that i am very grateful for it, i've met some awesome people who i hold lots of respect for and i hope to meet many more. And the DV Staff are awesome, they are what makes this forum and its surprising how ungrateful some people are when you consider how much effort must go into managing this forum, thanks a lot guys for all the effort and support which makes this forum what it is, its a pleasure to be here.

PS - Sorry if i went a bit over the top, i like to speak my mind, maybe sometimes i'm a bit too detailed, i did go on a bit in this post.

Well, I'm new here, so I don't know any of you. But, thus far I have been met with only nice people, or at least people who were nice to me.
Those would be superlox3, Luminous, Clairity, and TwoShadows. They took the time to welcome me.
I have always believed that there is good in every person, tho some bury it very deep.

How are we defining good in this case? Is it such a clear cut thing?

How do you define good? The average person understands what is good and not good.
The premise of this thread is good, don't you think?

Well what is good varies from one person to another.

From Hitler's perspective it was good to kill the jews; obviously this is untrue; but subjectively that was morally good for him. On a smaller scale one person my agree with euthanasia and another not.

Good is what, that which makes the most amount of people happy? [utilitarianism]

Or certain virtues perhaps? Or treating others as you would be treated?
