      Can't Make up my Mind

      Hey guys,

I made £170 over the course of 3-4 days writing articles online as i do. Now, i feel like treating myself, however i am torn as what to buy, i want to buy one of the two but i cannot decide which.

      iPod Touch (8gb version)

I currently have a Sony mp3 player, but it is a bit slow, it promises 20 hours of battery but i get near to 10. Its pretty sucky the interface and its annoying to get to what i want to listen to.

The touch looks pretty great and i want to get one because of all the applications that come with it, they would be very useful, plus i like the feel of it, tried one out a few times. Its got a great interface and it looks pretty cool. Only downside that i am unsure of is battery life, will it be any good? Anybody got one and could share with me what the battery life is like?

      Nintendo Wii

Now, my brother suggested this to me, and he made a good point with it. I have not got a new console in a while, and i only play games on my brothers 360. There are some fun looking games on it, and in the long run it would probably be good and all, but i don't know. It looks cool and i have wanted one previously, but i am torn and unsure.

If any of you guys could offer me reviews or what not, i would be grateful, its a tough decision and i don't know what to pick.

      Thanks a lot.

It realy depends on how much you play videogames, and you gotta remember that the Wii is going to wind up being a constant expense what with buying new games and all. It's really a pretty personal decision; do you get more enjoyment out of videogames or music? How much time do you have to play games? You can listen to music on an iPod most anywhere; the Wii isn't nearly so portable.

Now, I gotta hear more about this article writing. Would you mind PMing me with more details on that? If it's just writing articles online it might be something I could do for some extra cash...

I'm interested in thie articles online thing too. That's a lot of cash. @_@

Anyway I cast my vote for the wii, especilly if you stay in one place a lot. As far as MP3 players go I've never liked ipod and its accursed twin itunes. I would go for a 40GB Creative Nomad (Look it up-- had video versions, etc now I think). Mine has lasted for years and I have an enormous library. Best part is I can use it as a hard drive to and I don't have to bother with itunes. Battery life is great, too.

Well my rant is over. Overall I still cast my vote for the wii since you already have a "sufficient" music system. xD

Basically every MP3 player says you'll get about twice as much play time as you actually get; because the manufacturer's are counting on you not touching the player and leaving it. Obviously you'll be changing the songs and such, so the displayed play time is cut down considerably. So if you're hoping to get way more playtime out of the iPod, you'll only get about half of the displayed time.

If you want a music player, go for one of the Creative Zen models, they're much better then the iPods.

Like MoS said, it really depends what you're into . Since you already have a 360, keep in mind that the type of games on there are much different than the Wii.

I'd get the iPod just because I love music and don't play very many videogames because they waste alot of time that I could be using to do other things.

I'm also curious about making money from writing articles. I need some extra cash and have time to be on the computer to do things. I thought about writing term papers for people and stuff but I'm not sure about the legality of stuff like that.

Exactly what I said. :B I left out the "Zen Xtra" part.

Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 30-50GB Video FTW? Yes. Because iPod sucks.

      Maybe it'll re-iterate the point.

I've decided to divert my mind from getting an iPod touch because it is simply novalty based, i will get nothing out of it really. I don't know about the Wii, end of the day, saving is probably the best thing to do, i don't know though, but the iPod is out the way.

End of thread, thanks for your input guys.

iphone costs about 3000 USD when you count in the obligatory phone contract.

I'd personally go with the ipod touch, but get the 32 gb version. I think you'd regret it otherwise, unless you aren't a big music fan (or are the type of guy that could actually use like, a shuffle) or don't need to carry around a lot of it or movies or pictures.

Don't get a Wii, I got one, they're actually pretty bad.

There have been very very few good games released recently, it's shocking. Also if you have access to a 360 then I wouldn't bother. If you're spending money for the sake of spending money then you're likely to regret it later.

My advice would be to save it until you find something you really want or need. But if you do want to get an iPod or something, have a look at other manufacturers (particularly Samsung who make very underrated but cool MP3 and MP4 players) and if you really want an iPod then I'd get an iPod Classic because although it doesn't have a touch screen it trounces the Touch on every other facility. Also because it's been out longer you may be able to pick one up on the cheap via the internet.

And if you're still stuck: just give it to me.

PS. Could you give me a PM about how you earnt this money? I'm intrigued.
