Honestly, this is entirely up to asher, and chat is not his first priority. If you guys want IRC integrated with the forum, or if you want chatspot back or whatever...take it up with him. Because there's really nothing any of us can do about it, sadly. |

Bring back chatspot
If any of you remember, a couple years ago we had chatspot, an integrated PHP based chat client. It blended in the forum (looked good) and didn't run like my grandma (it was fast!). Kaniaz even coded chatspot 2, which had a lot of new features. Chatspot worked with the forum, letting mods kick and ban people, and it was overall pretty great. If you don't bring IRC, at least bring back chatspot!

Oh, and nina, if people clamor for something, than it will probably more likely be done. Sure we should contact asher, but we should also show the strong support (or lack thereof) of something.

No. IRC is the way forward (despite being the oldest of all solutions). What we need is a decent web IRC client, like ld4all does, but with advice to get a real one.
Ld4all trumps DreamViews when it comes to chat. Not only so they have the sense to officially use IRC, the lack of shitty distractions also make for what is often more enjoyable chat.
/me defects to ld4all.
