      Creative Names/Ideas Needed

I'm having a little trouble coming up with a name for something that I might end up attempting, so I thought I'd turn to you guys for help. After all, when one needs something creative, why not turn to a bunch of lucid dreamers?

Basically what I'm doing is trying to come up with a name for a fashion label that would sort of cater for the minority groups in society. I've noticed that you don't often get a lot of nice, fashionable clothes for obese people, or clothes that actually fit for tiny people like myself.

People with slightly different styles like myself can never seem to find clothes that are comfortable, look good, and fit well. I'm female, 5'2", and I weigh not much over 100lbs. Normally it wouldn't be too much of a problem to find stuff that I can wear - it's just that I'm a complete tomboy. So I end up shopping in the men's sections, and everything that I remotely like is about 5 sizes too big.

So I figured, "Screw this", and decided that I'm going to learn how to sew, and make things that I like, and that I can feel comfortable in. As well as stuff for other people that can't get anything nice because they have a different body type, or different style.

I'm considering doing sort of steampunk stuff inspired by Joan of Arc, as well as many different types of clothing for everyday or snazzy/custom formalwear, as well as costumes and/or fetish wear. As well as letting people tell me what kinds of things they'd like to see in fashion. Maybe I could even rope my friend into it who likes making beads and jewelry if it got big enough.

Problem is, I like coming up with names for things first, because it helps me to envision what a store with that name would look like, and what kinds of things it would sell. But I happen to be lacking in creative name ideas, especially since one of the best name generators out there that I love is no longer active.

So I'm turning to you guys for help. What kinds of exciting, exotic, cool names can you come up with for a fashion label, or even a fashion line? And feel free to leave a description of said fashion line, if you think that people won't understand the name.

These are what have been suggested/thought up so far...
(Keep in mind that I haven't checked to see if these are real labels or not.)

      - Vertamis
      - Disciple
      - Apostle
      - Inca/Inka
      - Renegade
      - Revolution
      - Saint (or Sinner/Vice, for an opposite line)
      - Arc
      - Ghost
      - Rara Avis
      - Afrika
      - Lucidity (Might make you guys some sleep masks and PJs. =D )
      - Survivor
      - Afterlife
      - Asylum
      - Axis
      - Battalion
      - Cadet

I think the name Beirut sounds good. "South Beirut Fashion" or something like it or
      "Black September fashion lines"

Btw i think the name Mecca is already taken by a fashion thing of a jinger.

Yeah, I think Renegade might be as well. Buuut, I'll discover all this later.

But yeah, Beirut is a good name. I love all those exotic names and places.

The name Apostle Strikes me as being really good from your list.

If you narrow down your list of names you should make a poll to see which people like better.

I like Afterlife. Btw...are you starting an actual business of your own and if so, are you planning on making it a very profitable business?

Well, I'm thinking I may end up turning it into a business. Given that my town isn't exactly number one on the list of most fashionable, out there places, I'd probably start off by selling most of it on the internet.

If it became profitable, I might expand it from there.

Even so, I think there's still a market for the "weird and wonderful" here in my town, because we're starting to get a lot more goths and emos and stuff like that wandering around. Given that we are fairly tourist-oriented, it'd be quite handy. People like me are sick of having to order everything off the internet, or drive 3 hours to see if the nearest capital city has anything remotely up our alley.

I like the idea of Apostle, because it was Joan of Arc that inspired me to start getting into religion, and now sewing. She was apparently quite good at it. But I have a horrible fear that it too is taken. Knowing my luck, it probably is.

I think I'll wait until people suggest some more ideas other than what I have on the list before I make a poll.

Nah, I need the name before I can decide on a logo. After all, it would be no use in me drawing some cool tiger and then calling it "Scarecrow."

The art isn't what I'm having trouble with, though. I'm an artist by nature, so that will be a lot easier for me to work around. I can then post the ideas that I come up with on here to get an opinion on which is the best.

Just need a decent few names right now.

I think "Cavalier" sounds quite good. It seems to fit your fashion ethos, although it may be a bit too masculine. You need something to appeal to the feminine, if I understand your ethos correctly. ??

Yeah, but there's also the Joan of Arc aspect, and she is a knight of sorts. I don't want to make money off her name, but she's where most of my inspiration comes from. But yeah, Cavalier is a bit too manly, so that would probably better suit a mens range of clothing, rather than a business name.

I'll ask a DC in my LD tonight if I remember.

      I liked Apostle, though.

No, but I have a perfume thing called Funeral Linen. And I have Graves' Disease. Which is sort of ironic. Especially given that I wanted to work in a funeral home for a while. >_>

I picture Morgue being a line of goth kind of formal wear. Fancy suits that make 'em look like vampires. You know they got for that shit.

And bugger. Apostle is already a brand. =[

Okay. Noske? I've had a think about this..

      What about "Orléans"?

It's got the Joan of Arc connection.. it's androgynous.. and it's got the mystique of french "couture".. what do you think?

True, I thought about that. But I don't want people saying "Or-leens." That irritated me SO bad in the Joan of Arc movies. Most of them speak with either a French or English accent (except for Milla), and yet they are acting like it's pronounced the same as New Orleans.

      Pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, makes everything that much harder. I looked up Renegade and Afterlife, and they are both already taken.

Friend suggested J.O.A.D, as in "Joan of Arc Design", but I don't know how catchy that'll be.

Yeah. If I'm using Jehanne's name, I'd prefer it to be the way she spelled it back then. Plus, I don't really want to make money off her name. So I'm trying to steer clear of using her as the title. Just as inspiration for the clothing itself.

Damn! So my overnight thoughts of "Arc", "Arco", and "Arcos" go right out of the window.. oh well.

I'm thinking that Arc might be a better name for the line of clothing itself.
