I want to get one of my ears pierced, but I wanna know is it considered tacky now days to have just one ear pierced? I ask because I was thinking about getting my right ear pierced, I want people to know I'm gay, but I don't want to have to shout it out all the time, and I don't act, nor do I like acting, like a stereotypical homo...so I'm at a loss for what I should be doing.

Well if you want people to know you're gay that's the best way to do it. I only consider it tacky if you get your left ear pierced and that's it (and you're heterosexual).
Go dual piercings!
The fact that you were considering whether it's tacky or not would be enough to tip most people off.

In any case, I think a single piercing is hotter on a guy than two. I think most would agree.
It's too lopsided for my liking. Symmetry is the way to go.
Symmetry in terms of accessories, though, is not always necessary.
You could always grow a Freddy Mercury style mustache. That's a pretty good sign that someone's either gay or a cop.
It doesn't mean you're gay. I have the top part of my left ear pierced, and I used to have my left eyebrow pierced. All it means is you don't give a shit what people think, and I've never had anyone think or ask if I'm gay.
I did all this without asking permission while working at a bank mind you... I always had to be spitting in the face of authority in some way.

I think sol was trying to point out that by saying "earrings are nothing but an excuse for mutilation" or whatever it was the previous person said, was in it of itself demeaning people who get piercings. Like everyone who gets a piercing is doing it to mutilate themselves...Or they are just too stupid to understand that they are hurting themselves.
The holes are so tiny you can't even see them...unless you get a gage that is really big X.X

when you think of earing doesnt it shift toward girl? when you think of boxer's doesnt it shift toward guys? alot of gay people have similar characteristics that point them out as gay, of course not all of them maybe not even the majority but things like how they talk, act, dress can give the impression that they're gay.Quote:

I think spartiate doesn't realize that most guys who have piercings have studs in them, not earings. But some guys do have earings in them, those are neat also.
Meanwhile I thought it was the norm to believe that one piercing, and only one, on your right ear, meant you were gay...

I got my lip pierced.
It does hurt. More then I expected it to hurt.
It wasn't too bad that I couldn't handle it or anything, but still it suprised me.
It still a thick hollow needle, that tears through your flesh.
Nothing like the little prick when you get a shot or even when you're getting a thick IV needle at all.
Maybe getting your lip pierced is different than eyebrows or lips, since when I had my eyebrow pierced I closed my eyes and the guy asked "do you wanna see?" I responded "no" cause I thought he meant do I wanna see him pierce it, but what he meant was he was done and did I want to see the piercing already done. That is how much it doesn't hurt to have your eyebrow pierced.
It's cause eyebrow and ear is all fat, no sensitive nerves or anything. Nipple on the other hand...
I had one ear pierced in high school, but it only lasted a year . Now I have the hole but no earring :p
Whether you choose 1 or 2 it's your choice. Don't make your choice based on speculation :cheers:

For some reason it just brings to mind Vanilla Ice, and I don't even know if he had one ear pierced, but I don't think you ever want to invite that comparison.
pain doesnt really matter its the piercing that I'd hate. im sure we all (or at least me) have experienced more pain than a needle going through you.
