The thing that pisses me off about the whole video game thing is that so many parents are too f'cking ignorant to realize that video games aren't just for children. Some kid asks if they can get a game, and mommy and daddy are like "OH SURE! HERE YOU GO! " without even having the common sense to check the rating. And then, because of their own ignorance, they get all pissed off when they find out Jr. has been playing Manhunt 2 and try to get the games banned and taken off the shelves.

Idiots.

[Edit: Oh, and there is more violence in some Disney movies than in some of the games that adults are complaining about their children having. (Ursula getting impaled by the broken mast of a ship in The Little Mermaid, for one example. How old were we all when we first saw that movie?)

hahahahah! yeah but probably most of the trouble they talk about comes from grand theft auto. i mean, come on, how are you gonna complain about a WAR game?? i mean, how is it not gonna have guns if its that kinda game. and halo isnt even as bad as games get. but true about the porn. its the kid that goes to the porn site. if you wanna fix something like porn ud have to fix your kids 2nd brain if you know what i mean

Because most parents are completely clueless, when it comes to their kids' generation. All they know is that jimmy says "I want Halo." They don't know enough to actually check out what it's about.

I was not allowed to play 18+ games until I was like 15/16...

What's the HUGE deal? Games doesn't make kids violent unless they are already violent or insane... A game is just a game. Violent games are not for 5 year olds...

yeah, i always thought the same. ive seen smaller kids though. like my younger kuzin, he bought def jam fight for new york and they "invented" it again at there school. hed always come home with a black eye. i had to intervine

Obviously there should be some age certificates on video games, and some censorship of the internet for minors. It's when this goes over the top, or when ignorant parents fail to follow them and then complain about the consequences, that we see problems.

I'm not advocating censorship of the internet to those above age. That would utterly go against the freedom of speech that the internet represents.

But minors are impressionable. They often lack the experience and intelligence required - as many grown adults do, regrettably - to filter the shit and whatever.

What i think is bad though is that if we continue to be told by our Government that we must protect children from everything then their going to grow up without a way to cope with anything. They'll never have even seen and heard about a traumatic event let alone personally been in one, they'll never have life experience to cope on their own. If someone they know dies they'll become completely distraught as they've never got to see death or anything horrible. Even psychically they will suffer since with all his cleaning every surface with bleach and over using medicine( pain killers for a cold for example), their immune system will be poor and their ability to cope with injury will be non existent.

I just think that no matter what people do kids are going to get exposed to things, just try and educate them to know the difference between good and bad, remember to teach them the difference between games and reality and just let them have their own life experiences. As long as a child has a good basis of morals their going to do ok.
