Why the hell won't Bush go ahead and fess up? He either told a lie to the American people, or made some pretty damn misleading statements that are worthy of a censure at least, minus all the constitutional violations he's allowed, which are worthy of impeachment. Let me elaborate:

First of all, we have the October NIE report.

First, it downplayed Saddam's weapons capability, capability which Bush seems to have really overemphasised, considering the absence of weapons stockpiles and labs found in Iraq. The most damaging, however, is the fact that the report said that the only scenario under which Saddam would give assitance to al Qa'ida was IF he was threatened with US invasion, while Bush maintained a connection between 9/11 and Saddam. and that "Iraq could decide on any given day to provide a biological or chemical weapon to a terrorist group or individual terrorists." The evidence of that relationship was debunked through the invalidation of the Czech intelligence report that linked Mohammed Atta to members of Iraqi intelligence.


Next, we have a blatant lie, which is a direct quote from Bush:

\"Saddam Hussein has the motive and the means and the recklessness and the hatred to threaten the American people. \"


"Following the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, the US sent its own teams to search for weapons of mass destruction, but no such weapons have been found.

Claims that Iraq possessed banned weapons were used by the US and UK as the key reason for going to war."

Please don't go into some semantical rant about Bush's speech, it's clear what he meant: that Iraq had the weapons and means to harm the U.S.

It's certainly possible that Saddam did possess the weapons, but as of yet, those weapons have not been found, and so, after years of searching, it must be assumed that they aren't there, until some are found, should it happen.

Saddam Hussein did have the means to create WMD's...just like most other countries on the planet.

It's impossible to prove that Bush knew he was lying, but George Bush made a false statement, leading the American people to war, costing the lives of about 900 American soldiers (so far) 12,000 civillians, and thousands of Iraqi soldiers. The war, while freeing an oppressed people, increased anti-American sentiment in the Middle East, putting Americans and British all over the world in danger, and using an estimated $126 billion dollars, which could have been used to make things better here in America, and fight Al-Qaeda, the executors of the September 11th attacks, which Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with.

At the very least, he could fess up to his mistake, and get the high-ranking officials who screwed up out of high-ranking positions.
