      Oil

Oil is starting to become the downfall of The United States of America. It is really starting to break the peoples back, I mean here in California (North) were paying 4.25$ for regular and 5.15$ for diesel. Oil controls every single part of the US. We have no mass transit systems and were sure as hell not gonna have hydrogen fueled cars anytime soon. Throughout the years people have been saying "Oh! were running out of oil!! What will we do now??!!," well as you all know thats a bunch of bullshit. Where's all the money going that should be put into research and development for Hydrogen power cars? Every time you purchase a gallon of gas 20% of the profit should be given to research centers.
Also have you guys hear of the hugenormous deposit in western north Dakota? Something like 200 billion barrel field. WTF!?!? We should never have to even buy gas! Which gets me back to my point, the oil companies make way too much money and are way too greedy to stop now. Someone is gonna have to do something about this before this nation is fucked in the ass by greedy oil companies. Even if hydrogen fuel cars were ready to be put on the market I bet the car companies would be given billions of dollars to keep the technology from reaching the public. I honestly don't want to see a country as great as this one die this early. What do you guys think?

Seriously, I'd say about 80-90% of people who own SUV's don't need the space or power. I hear if you own a motorcycle, you spend way less money on gas. Of course, in my case, I spend zero, what with not bothering to get a car.

Oil is a huge worldwide scam.

Cars who run on water or electricity or any other source of fuel have been invented over 50 years ago.

Oil industries pay car industries to not build cars on water. They even buy the patents so nobody can build cars on water.

Driving is way down now. I say let's bring it down even more. The only thing that will make the oil companies cool it is if we fight back by using as little gas as possible. That will very much catch their attention.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

And you think that's bad? Here in England my local filling station has regular unleaded at £1.15 per litre, which works out at £5.17 (or $10.19) per gallon...

I'm going to leave the car alone and start walking to work.

There should be an international oil strike day this summer, where every single oil consuming human being that breaths should not use their vehicles or buy gas, on that specific day...this would put a huge dent in the oil companies.

Meh, even if Hydrogen comes around, it performs like crap in cold weather, so people who live in the north US wouldn't buy hydrogen cars...

Also hydrogen fuel costs more then petroleum based fuel, the car's cost more, and they aren't even safe yet...our best bet is electric-hybrid-water cars

That's right, a car which runs on water, and electric..a hybrid

Electric cars have immense acceleration, and the water is great for long distance trips.

      Screw hydrogen.

I dont live where you do Ric but I can imagine your pain, over in England though most of your country has mass transit. So you kinda have a backup plan. In the US we have nothing like that.

Yeah but you dont understand. Electrolysis separates the hydrogen molecule from water. After hydrogen is burned its byproduct is water.. There you go. If we had to pay for fucking hydrogen, I would assassinate some bitches myself! Electric cars is a cool idea but until they figure out how to make an efficient battery for less than 50 grand, thats a pipe dream. Anyhow, we would all be paying up the ass on our PG&E bill. So were fucked anyway you deal the cards.

Hydrogen has one major flaw, there is no way to store it Hydrogen molecules are so small they they will seep through any modern material, making mass transit and storage a problem. Fuel cells are the way to go, they use hydrogen, but store them in a different medium until it's needed.

The fuel cell cars cost more because it's new technology. Once it hits a mass market the price will come down. We saw that with hybrids, they used to be ungodly expensive (I know, I was recently looking for a new car,) but now they are prices about the same as gas-only cars.

What should happen is they should make cars run on ethanol and all of that corn that the government buys and destroys to keep prices up should be used to make ethanol. They could also burn the tobacco crops and plant feed-corn to make it, kill two birds with one stone.

Thats not true, researcher's at Stanford have invented a new thing called Nanotubes. It doesn't really matter though. I GUARANTEE that Hydrogen fuel storage is a thing of the past. The oil companies will not allow it. Simple as that. And with the ethanol thing. You can only grow so much, it not infinite.

yes but in england everything is 2 blocks away, In America we have to drive to work. I heard that gas prices might fly to almost $12 dollars per gallon by the end of the year. if that rumer comes true true a bike may be a good alternative.

Hey we might be on a little island, but its a bit further than two blocks if you don't live in the cities (which I don't). I live out in the countryside.

Work is 6 miles away from home for me. As mentioned earlier, we do have a fairly good public transport system but the rising fuel cost means to get that 6 miles - one way - to work on public transport now costs £2.90 (around $5.60...ish). So it works out more expensive per week than using the car.

      Regards

      Ric

Nanotubes have been found to be as harmful to us as asbestos...so much for that lol

I can't walk to work either, i live 30 miles from work, there is absolutely no way I can walk in the desert 30 miles in 105 degrees...stupid gas prices.

In Ohio, gas jumped up from 3.87 last week to $4.05.

      It's ridiculous.

Can anyone explain to me why this week crude oil prices dropped, but gas prices skyrocketed? I saw gas in my town go from 3.89 to 4.05

The US is Run by oil juggernauts. Such Free Energy devices are suppressed by the military industrial complex. There have been reports of people murdered Who tried to patent such devices. however the more people are aware of these things the less men in black can do. tell everyone you know!

Yea kind of like that guy who invents the water car, then vanishes, and 10 years later comes along another guy, who also vanishes.

I was figurality speaking about the 2 blocks, 6 miles to work though seems short to me (I also live in the country) but the gas for you is very expensive no doubt. If the U.S gas prices climb that high you wont be able to find a hybrid hell on the news today it said that hybrids are in such demand that if you can find one and take it on a test drive that car will be sold when you get back. both countries are hurting.

Although the price rises are bad. The higher they rise, the more economically viable environmental methods become.

Agreed. No matter how much I feel for the economic situation of my friends and obviously my family, I wish that the prices of gas continue to rise very very high. I mean, I feel bad that my parents have to pay so much for gas, but if gas rises to 6-8 dollars a gallon in the next couple of months, people will really, really be looking into new forms of energy. I hope that sometime in the future there is some sort of trade off where people can get their current cars recycled for some sort of discount on an electric or other type of energy car.
