It's a shame some people devote that much time to achieve skills like that. Imagine if they apply this to other things. Reflexas are good for martial arts, sports, that hand-slap game, maybe even drawing. |

This, paired with the "Duke Nukem Forever" in-game-footage I saw earlier, proves that I have now seen everything. |

I don't get it...they move really really fast yet the players always seem to be moving their fingers slowly. |

It's too bad that very little of that talent will transfer to playing an actual guitar. |

It's relevant to note that pull-offs are a technique used in the interest of creating music. You might as well be saying that guitar isn't about playing chords. Pull offs are an aspect of playing music on guitar. |

Ah, Chris Chike. The only person to really do this among about 3,500 fakers. |

But the movements (talking Guitar Hero here) are very similar. Guitar playing is "mechanical". You have to physically manipulate the instrument for it to make sound. Are you saying that training the dexterity of your fingers and learning to do so to the rhythm of music is not at all helpful to guitar playing? |
|
No. This is indeed correct. But I reckon that the Guitar Hero guitar has ... 5? binary buttons. Whereas a real guitar has metal strings that react to pressure, bending, precision, sloppiness, build quality, stroke angle, stroke direction, pick thickness, pick position, string thickness and so on. |

Yeah, I know that. What's your point? In case it wasn't clear, I was talking about in my last post were specifically the movements for doing a pull off being similar. |

I don't get it... I thought you had to strum the notes too, not just hit the buttons? Please excuse my ignorance - I'm still on "medium" |
|
Well, though I'm only an Uber-N00b @ guitar hero, what AmazeO is talking about are guitar-playing terms. Hammering on is taking your "fretting" fingers and slamming them on the strings so that you get a sound without strumming, and "pulling-off" is when you take those fingers and brush them off of a string, without strumming, and still get a note. |

hmm, interesting, thanks for the explanation |
|
There are certain notes, you'll notice that have a slight glow on the top of them. Those notes don't have to be strummed, you can "hammer on", meaning go from a lower fret such as the green fret to the red fret, or "pull off" meaning go from a higher fret such as the red fret, let go of it while holding the green fret and the green fret will be played. It doesn't work with all the notes though, only specific ones, and your timing has to be pretty precise for the first two Guitar Hero's. |
|
Yeah, the GH2 hammer-ons and pulloffs are way harder than GH3. As for GH1, they're.. well... Search "Bark at the Moon". |

|
Honestly, sometimes it's way better to strum then to try and hammer on or pulloff. In case you miss on, sometimes it can mess up the whole thing. |
