      The butterfly effect.

The butterfly effect is a movie I had just watched. It was very good. I can summerize it up by saying I think most Lucid dreamers would like it.
      Anyone else seen it?

Yeah, I've seen it. It was good, a little disturbing in my opinion, but good. Has anyone else seen furniture and stuff jet out like it does in the movie, when he travels back in time, during hypnagogic imagery?

Great movie! I loved it. On the DVD, you are able to see many psychotherapists view on Chaos Theory which I (obviously) enjoyed the most.

It made me wonder where I could go back in time in my life and how it might change my life significantly.

This movie also brought up the very interesting paradox; what would happen if you go back in time and kill yourself? (This is considering that you would take another form and be able to see yourself). However, this movie makes the very interesting arguement that time travel may not allow you to keep your physical body throughout any time travel.

Anyways, it's easy to get into and get lost in to, lol.

Probably the only thing which I liked Ashton Kutchner in.

Yep, I've seen it. I enjoyed it. Great concept.

      Peace sensi.

What a coincidence... I saw that movie two nights ago. I enjoyed it, I don't understand why the critics were so harsh on it. The movie was long and sometimes redundant, but I still enjoyed it.

It was so weird to see Ashton so serious. He's not as bad an actor as I thought.

But it was weird because whenever he went back to change time, it only seemed to effect his circle of friends. It didn't effect the world outcome, and this is odd because that is what the butterfly effect is: affecting the entire world, not just a group of four friends.

depends on whether there is only one timeline or [the potential for] infinite timelines.
Each new day is a chance to turn it all around.

Probably did, but the movie would not have as much character development.

      Also, it might suck:

Ashton goes back in time to try to save girl - Ashton comes back - World explodes - End of movie.

      Or

Ashton goes back in time - Ashton comes back - Aliens now control Earth and humans are extinct - End of movie.

      Some lame deus ex machina.

Which ending of this movie did you guys like most? I liked the Theatrical version more, the original. I first saw the Director's cut and I just... don't like it. *Trying not to spoil*

I wathced the directors cut which had (whats his face), take on a whole differant ending, where as my friend rented it from the video store and it had a happy ending with him adressing the relationship with the girl when they were young. Somthing to the effect -get out of my life. As opposed to ******** like in the other version.

******** = so not to spoil it for those who have not watched it yet!

Oh crap! I only watched the theatrical version ( I was puzzled when they had that option on the DVD, but completely forgot about it later). The ending I watched was... well, I'll PM you...

EDIT: Opps, nvm. Howetzer posted it. He ******* himself! Gosh, I didn't watch it, I'm so stupid. I've already returned the DVD, gosh darn it

The butterfly was one of the best movies I've seen recently, and I do agree with O'nus that the director's cut just wasn't as good as the final ending.

Oh no Howetzer, it's okay , I wasn't being that clear. I wanted to know the other ending, I was just calling myself stupid because I forgot to watch it and already returned the DVD. But you can still edit it if maybe other people don't want to know the ending.

The first half was really cool, not knowing what happened during the blacked out scenes and whatnot. The second half blew chunks. What a shallow, boring, waste of time...Sorry to be a wet blanket, but damn, I was disappointed

great movie, i love thinkin about time travel and all that good stuff, i recommend donnie darko if you liked the butterfly effect, but i didnt like the ending to butterfly effect, too happy. i think it woulda been better if the ending was when all his friends were normal and hes in a wheelchair, that woulda been really deep if it ended like that. still hafta get the dvd to see the alternate endings though.

I liked the movie but not very good with the time travel and stuff...
ive thought about it for ages and ages and ages, there is no time really everything has already happened and if you can say travel to the past then it has already happened and there will be no consequences because its what you do... sounds confusing but when i think about it, it makes sense.

I like how fry is is own grandfather on futurama... completely impossible but sooo funny

That is assuming there is only ONE concept of time. MAybe there are multiple times and exitenses for all of us?

do you mean that each individual could have a different concept of time?
or that there are different realities and such...

      there is no proof.

That is the beauty of theories. You can throw any Idea out there and it is up to somone else to prove it. But the plus side is that it could make you see the other side, if there is one!.!.

      no im not
I go to uni we learnt some stupid shit about falacies and answering a question like that is a falacy of non sequiteur or some crazy french gay word, or it was the falacy above that on the hand out we got which might have been begging the question... im not sure i only looked at it once then threw it away... anyway i had a black out once after watching a documentry on chimpanzees and i viciously attacked my little brother. It wasnt a dream either.
