i...will take a look when i feel better then...thank you for the heads up pal :cooler:
Thats some fucked up shit. You wont catch me in any KFC.
are you vegetarian/vegan awaken? i know that site is connected with alot of animal rights activism so i was curious if you are or not...
*shrugs*
Lately, i've been kind of REALLY annoyed by all the animal rights activits and militant vegan people... fuck chickens. Seriously. Stupid chickens. If you want to do charity/care for stuff, CARE FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THAT HAVE NO FOOD/SHELTER, dont go around and cry because a bunch of FUCKING CHICKENS get slaughtered because people like to eat them.
I am not veggie by any standard and I have no connection with animal rights activists. I had steak the past 2 nights. But seeing animals treated like this is pretty disturbing to say the least...Quote:

Its not the fact that were eating them..its the fact that these chickens are being treated like crap when thier is no need. They are being thrown around like someones garbage. Eat chickens sure, but why treat them like that? Does it somehow help people to sam chickens into walls and scold them alive? Not at all. Its not helping anyone.
You cant pick other peoples fights for them. People stand up for something they feel strongly in, so we cant change that. Personally I think the best way to amke the world a better place is to make your life better. If everyone started with themselves the world would be fine. But if I send letters to Dale Earnheart or KFC, itll be a waste of my time and it wont change shit. It just attacks the symptoms.
Sympathy: The act or power of sharing the feelings of another.
A feeling or an expression of pity or sorrow for the distress of another; compassion or commiseration.
Believe it or not, chickens are living creatures to. The treatment of another being is not determined by it's IQ. If you think that this is anywhere near proper treatment of chickens, you need a kick in the head and some retuning.
If I saw people taken against their will, having their fingers cut off (equating it with debeaking), put into pens with their own shit/piss where they choke on the fumes and are unable to move because it's so cramped, are fed drugs to make them so big that they collapse under their own weight, are dragged off and literally *thrown* into trucks by their necks, hung upside down while their throats are cut (while they're still conscious), ground up, breaded, deep-fried, and then sold to people with the motto "Finger lickin' good!" and a nice-looking old man with a smile on his face to accompany, I'd be doing the same thing I am right now...I'd say people without food/shelter are living like kings compared to this...Quote:

Wow...I feel really bad for you CT. Its too bad those dumb chickens lives had to interfere with yours and cause such an annoyance. I mean after all...they're just getting tortured....they don't have to feel the great annoyance of activists buzzing in the background of thier lives.Quote:

VERY well-said...If no one had any sense of sympathy, we'd be lifeless and disconnected.Quote:

So, chickens are more important then people?
I'm just setting priorities, to what causes deserve my sympathy more then others. I think my fellow human beeings are more important then animals. Sorry if the post sounded a bit rude - I had some kind of discussion with a militant vegan who really pissed me off, I guess ever since i've been a bit touchy on that subject... Ofcourse the chickens are beeing treated wrong - I just care a hell of a lot more about people then I do about chickens.
They are??? WHo said that? I dont recall anyone saying that chickens are more important than people.Quote:

So CT, when the chickens aren't being tortured, that's the equivalent of living better than a human?
Damn...this topic is making me hungry for some fried chicken.
But in all seriousness, I switched to free-range years ago because of this very treatment. I just hope that when they say "free-range", it means what I HOPE it means.
No. Who said that?Quote:

We implied it because we don't want them tortured.
Ophelia, free-range means they toss the chickens in the air and shoot them with a pellet gun. The first person to hit 5 chickens wins.
There's too many crap in the world concerning people, and our race's future that chicken are way down on my list and I would prefer most charity stuff to stop 'wasting' time with chickens... sorry if I word it a bit wrong, like I said i got annoyed before and I guess I vented that in that post and I dont feel like arguing about semantics now.
Its thier time to waste on chickens or whatever else. Whoa are you to decide what's of most importance to other people?
I AM vegan, though I wouldn't call myself an activist beyond how I choose to live my own life. Even if I lived in a society that treated livestock humanely, I probably wouldn't be eating dead flesh if it wasn't necessary to my survival.
Do I think animals are more important than people? No, I'm not eating people, either. I do think that treating living creatures as "product" or worse, sport, reflects and has an impact on the way we view other people. Once we start ignoring suffering, it gets easier and easier to go from, "Well, they're not people" to "Well, they're not MY people" to "Well, it's not me." And then, guess what? It's you. Someone bigger and stronger comes along and they want your labor or your land, or they just want to hurt something, and everyone who might have stood with you is already meat.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." -Gandhi
KFC does not grow and breed chickens. They buy it in bulk from different farms. That site is a load of crap.
I'm one of those multi-taskers that care about animal AND human violations:
http://www.thehungersite.com (check out all 5 tabs on the top there)
http://www.therainforestsite.com
Now everybody quit fucking whining about semantics and save a little of the world today.
I'm not saying its right to treat animals like that, and that they should be continued to be treated like that... In my opinion, those funds and energy would've been better off to save human life, make the future better for people, so eventually we'll be able to minimise any human suffering and concentrate on developing friendlier and safer production techniques etc etc. etc.Quote:

oh well i'm done with this thread anyway, i'd trow in some survival of the fittest crap but I cant be arsed, aint gonna argue over opinions, and dont feel like reading posts of people trying to prove my opinions wrong or something... Its noble if you do something good for the chicken cause, do whatever the fuck you deem neccesary and important, and dont let anyone tell you otherwise (:P). It is just in my opinion, those efforts would be better concentrated on saving fellow human beeings.
Chickens will always be eaten. Live with that.
Just let them have a nice chickeny happy life.
That's my opinon. EAT THEM but let them live a nice happy chicken life, so they can cluck around...lay eggs get a girlfriend and stuff and be really happy.
CT, do you really think it takes resources to stop abuse? That's like saying you need money to brighten someone's day.
How is that site a load of crap anyway? Did you watch the videos?
It takes resources, human resources. People could be doing something else. Like campaigning to save...Sudan (EXAMPLE OKAY!).Quote:

You're also dodging the point CT tries to make, picking about a little insignificant detail in his post he wasn't even talking about.
OMG I hate you now Awaken.
Kaniaz, what the hell are you talking about? Sudan would cost billions... Saving the chickens at KFC would take a couple hundred dollars at most. And PETA isn't even part of the government! The resources that the government uses aren't the same as the resources that PETA uses. I am argueing with CT because he claims it takes human resources... how does it take human resources? We just have to get KFC to monitor it's employees so they aren't being inhumane (which wouldn't take that not much money).
I'm going to cook some chicken and eat it as a result of this topic, have a nice day.
This is about the inhumane treatment of chickens, not the fact that we eat chickens. In nature, animals kill eachother and eat eachother (I will do the same, as I see no reason not to). You don't have to torture a chicken to kill it.
I am talking about how human resources could be better spent saving lives of humans.Quote:

KFC is a big, big franchise. They've got more than like...1 million restraunts? That's just a guess. But it will cost more than \"a couple hundred dollars\" because like most \"big\" franchises/companies, they'll sit on their ass for as long as possible until really big problems start to pop up. You know, lawsuits and stuff. And lawsuits aren't cheap.Quote:

Human resources are humans. They are spending time campaigning to save these chickens which could be better spent saving Sudan (example). Perhaps that's the wrong term. \"Time humans have\", or something of the like.Quote:
how does it take human resources?[/b]
Yes. But it would help/save 3 million people. The chickens are not as important. Face it- they're just not.Quote:

Oh God... *Looks a Bucket of KFC Chicken next to me* Oh God please no.
But seriously, I shall not believe what a bunch of drugged up activist are saying about chicken just because they don't have the mojo the eat another living animal. Meh think it's all a bunch of feces (did i spell that right?).
Your spelling of feces was impeccable.
I don't think I'll ever turn vegetarian, and I don't think it's right to tell people to do that, either. I just make no distinction between my feelings, and the feelings of another living creature, be it another human, or a chicken. People go to jail for torturing dogs or cats, just because the animals are domesticated, and are considered someone's property, yet a multibillion dollar corporation has every right to treat their 'product' with utter disregard? I'm sorry, I'd feel like a hypocrite making a distinction between the two situations. It's fine if you don't want to get involved with it, but don't play it off like it's no big deal. I cannot support a decrease in the quality of life in exchange for higher profits.
Are you people high or something? They are just beating the shit out of those chickens for no reason. Did the world go completely insane while I was just in the bathroom? It's not about them being killed, it's about HOW they're killed. If it's relatively painless, then there won't be any complaints (at least from most people).
Mojo eh? How bout a beer and a football game? That would make ya a man! Oh and don't drive anything that weighs less than 7000 lbs and can't tow a boat or drive up a 45 degree incline, anything less would make you a little wussy GIRLYMAN! Oh yeah get out the chewing tobacco too, that makes you a sex machine!Quote:

I don't think it's "no big deal". I still have concern for these chickens, yet there are more pressing matters that need to be attended to. Like human beings starving. If there were no big sudan-like-crisises, i would be supporting the "chicken campaign". there's just a priority as far as i'm concerned. still i might go to school wearing a giant chicken shirt just because it helps.Quote:

I'm not putting priority on this. I'm merely shedding light on it. Most people know that people in the world are starving. I'd say many fewer people know about stuff like this than what's going on in Africa... The world doesn't work upon priorities. We can't just solve one issue before moving on to the next, that wouldn't make sense.Quote:

It works on dungeon keeper II. it WILL WORK HERE D:
edit: hey why not? :P
Haha...
All I ask is that people are respected for feeling bad about stuff like this. I feel horrible that people are starving, and believe me, if I could save the world, I would, but at the same time, I've got an uncontrollable negative gut reflex to seeing a chicken beaten with a metal rod, and I just had to get it out...
Also, if I made a thread about starving people I'm sure it wouldn't have gotten so much attention...I'm sure it would have gotten a response like "yeah that sucks, but that's all we hear about!"
OK, I was at work all day, so I just have to back up and say,
ROFLMAO :morecrying:Quote:

Back on topic, my main aim day by day is to live responsibly, in a way that decreases suffering in the world and creates a *slightly* better world in every moment that I live. This is my goal--I'm not saying my actions never deviate from that goal, and I'm not claiming moral high ground. This way of living comes from my conviction that there is NO ESCAPE from this life. I remember living and dying many times before the creature known by my current name ever existed. Again, I'm not saying this makes me better than anyone else--I still fuck up, regularly. Still, sometimes there's something that stands out as a point where I can decrease the harm that I'm doing--again and again, life after life--and create a better world for whatever I am in the next moment, whether the creature I am now dies or lives on.
For me, one of these things is not to eat the flesh of my fellow-creatures, or anything else extorted from them by torture. If you don't feel the need to follow this path, then you won't follow this path. It is enough that you know it exists, should you feel the need in future moments. For me, so far, there have been only benefits. Is it harder to find food? Yes, according to my old conception of "food," but I have learned where to go. Health effects? I have more energy, I am more aware of my bodily processes, I am more regular :goodjob2: and generally healthier than I've ever been before. Also, I eat better-tasting food than I've ever had in my life. I work in a gourmet vegan restaurant-that has a little to do with it, but generally organic foods have more flavor, and the taste varieties among plants and fungi are greater by many multiples than those found in the animal kingdom.
So this is my pitch as the "token vegan." I don't present it as typical of other vegans. Make of it what you will.
Alright then; logical to me.
"I say he dead!"
You gotta remember, it's not like KFC condones torturing chickens, or even catches people torturing chickens and does nothing about it. It's the people that work for them, not KFC themselves.
And having a cousin that helps on his dad's chicken farm, I can confirm that kaniaz's statement is being carried out as we speak. Chickens are allowed to have normal happy chicken lives, with chicken girlfriends and chicken children, with chicken houses, protected by (non-chicken) geese.
KFC sucks anyway, other than their jumbo potato wedges. It cost too much, I've gotten sick from it, I know other people that have gotten sick from it. I don't know what it is making me sick, but I know it's from KFC. (I also know it's not potato wedges.)

Duck walks a little too far
Geese: ARGH! GET YOUR DUMBASS BUTT IN HERE!
Duck: Okay, okay.

no the way they do it there is not right. and I don't agree with how some people treat animals. but I don't care if someone kills a chicken for my dinner. that's what God made them for. food. meat. protein.
...ugh this is so stupid. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/9839790/
The killing of animals in itself has never been a problem in my books. Some of the methods are what disturb me.
recently my dad got a hoax email about kfc gentically modifying their chickens.
i found out it was a hoax at http://www.unh.edu/BoilerPlate/kfc.htmlQuote:
KFC has been a part of our American traditions for many years. Many people, day in and day out, eat at KFC religiously. Do they really know what they are eating? During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New Hampshire, they found some very upsetting facts.
First of all, has anybody noticed that just recently, the company has changed their name? Kentucky Fried Chicken has become KFC. Does anybody know why? We thought the real reason was because of the \"FRIED\" food issue. It's not. The reason why they call it KFC is because they can not use the word chicken anymore. Why? KFC does not use real chickens. They actually use genetically manipulated organisms. These so called \"chickens\" are kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structure. They have no beaks, no feathers, and no feet. Their bone structure is dramatically shrunk to get more meat out of them. This is great for KFC because they do not have to pay so much for their production costs. There is no more plucking of the feathers or the removal of the beaks and feet.
The government has told them to change all of their menus so they do not say chicken anywhere. If you look closely you will notice this. Listen to their commercials, I guarantee you will not see or hear the word chicken. I find this matter to be very disturbing. I hope people will start to realize this and let other people know.
Please forward this message to as many people as you can. Together we [can] make KFC start using real chicken again.
[/b]

Last I checked, black people are animals...As are white, yellow, red, brown, purple, etc. Somehow human supremecy doesn't make sense to me.
I mean tasty animals like chickens and cows.
I wouldn't know, but maybe black people are tasty too?

A good anti-redneck song.
Who, me? Yes, me! Couldn't be! Then who?
No I'm not racist. I hate all people equally ;) I would have said that about a Jew, native, asian or white person. I make no distinction, I was just using one in this case because it was presented that way.
apperantly, people taste like pork.

2) Do you like/support Insane Clown Posse?
That film is fucken disturbing. Makes me glad i havent eaten flesh in years. No living creature deserves to be treated like that. There are definatly humane ways in which animals can be farmed, that is not one of them.

this made some quite interesting reading....
and there was some good funny bits - espeically liked the duck/goose role play!!
maybe if i lived on a farm and had my own land raising animals, i might consider eating meat again. maybe not.
my opinion is that the mass production/raising and keeping of animals is pretty sick these days. not saying people aren't entitled to eat meat, people can do what they want, but abuse - well, why? it's just plain wrong. and shows how f**ked up some people in our society are.
someone stated in the thread earlier that this site just wants to convert people to veggies, to eat just fruit and veg.... and how would this benefit the site??? do they hold monopoly on fruit and veg??? if you ask me, a bit more fruit and veg wouldn't go amiss for some people.
.... plants inc fruit and veg grow directly from the sun's energy - meat does not. clearly better for you.
and why do we all seemed to get more hyped up about something like this rather than Sudan - well, maybe because we believe that we might be able to do something about it. we get more say - it's 'close' to us.
It's just another thing to get hyped up about. It's because we have feelings towards other creatures and don't see ourselves as superior in that way. If I saw a thread about people being tortured I'd still share my feelings.Quote:

anyway, i expect deleted or locked thread. oh well.
I never said I was nice. But usually its just my sarcasm and synicysm that seems mean and got CT upset.
EDIT:And then when someone says tell me "FUCK YOU" I feel the need to be more of an assshole :P
So your basicly saying we should ignore how all animals are treated in the world untill all human problems are fixed? If we are going to do that, then we might as well just say we will never care about them.
Saying its ok to do something wrong because there are worse things going on is irresponsible. Its like saying we shouldn't punish people who steal things because the resources used to catch and prosecute them could be better used for catching murderers. The fact is you can do both at the same time and theres no reason you shouldn't.
*wants to delete thread*
*now*
*or else*
*calls Seeker*
Nobody ever said that.Quote:

It sure sounded like it.
I suggest an hearing aid.

Anyway; I can't be bothered posting in this topic anymore. It's been done to death on all the stances and angles as far as I can tell. I could easily just sit here going "it is", then receiving an "it isn't", then an "it is" again sort of argument except with loads of fancy padding and reasons. Ultimately it's a waste of my time. The end. :)
When you say its stupid to waste time helping them, its basicly the same thing as saying we should ignore them.
  Locked!!!
Come on guys!
