No, internet forums are the supreme form of acquiring knowledge and solving problems. Don't you know anything?

Unhelpful assistance and snide comments aside - yes, you can set up a bank account without your parents. Well, at least you can here; but I'm assuming that most bank branches would do this as well.

you should be able to open a normal, bog-standard current account without your parents

minimum age for most is 16 (some banks it's 18, but 16 is more usual)
you'll probably need two forms of ID, and proof of address
but you should have no problems opening an account by yourself

Just send me all your money and I'll take care of it for you.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

You can certainly set up a bank account without your parents in the UK.

All you need is some proof of identity, such as a passport, and some means of proving your address.

However, I don't understand why you feel you cannot ask your parents for help on the subject; they have no right to interfere in your finances.

The best way really is to walk in to a bank and talk to a rep about your options; they'll be more than happy to explain. At 16 though, all you will get is a debit card.

What's wrong with setting one up with your parents for now?
