Yeah, yeah. "Double post" ...but a damn good one. :cooler:
[Edit: Holy Shit!]
Woah, I wonder if that bus got lifted off the ground. That would be scary.
Largest Tornado in recorded U.S. history - 2.5 miles at the base!:
(1:30 is when you officially start saying: "Holy Shit!" And check out the crazy 'demon face' the clouds make at around 3:00.)
(Same tornado. I take it this building only got sideswiped by it. A direct hit from that F4 would have leveled the place entirely.)
[Edit]
Not the same tornado, but Wow.[/Edit]
Me and my dad chase tornado's.
We have a sky warn license, so when we see one, we call this number, enter a code, and give alot of information about it.
Like were it is, how it formed, level it is at, when it formed, which way the wind is blowing ect..
We were at a cracker barrel one time, and I spotted an anvil cloud, and my dad was like "Thats no an anvil cloud" then about 30 minutes later, the anvil cloud dropped down in the middle and produced a tornado lol..
Everyone ran screaming inside the cracker barrel, but we were on a cell phone out side about 1 mile away calling the number.
A store worker tried to drag us inside the building lol.. It was funny.
She probably thought we were suicide, but the tornado was no were near coming to us..
(But really if anyone sees a tornado, dont call 911, or try and watch it, just go seek immediate shelter)
Ever since I moved to the top of the TN plateau I have not seen one tornado yet.
Oh well, its not really my hobby, more like my dads
I've always wanted to be a storm chaser. As a kid, in Texas, they always fascinated me. There is a member of this board named Peregrinus, who is a storm chaser. She always said we were going to go on a chase one day, but she doesn't come around much anymore.
But yeah, aside from the obvious dangers, I'd say that would be a kickass hobby.
I used to not be able to watch tornado videos when I was younger just because of the danger involved. Now I love to watch them though. I dont know if I'd go storm chasing or not but if I had the chance I probably would.
Being in central PA surrounded by mountains, we don't get many tornados though, which I'm not gonna complain about lol.
Got inspired by the 'Natural Disaster Experience' thread. :P
Awesome videos here
I don't know if anyone posted this and it got deleted since then, but this one is great (skip to ~1min):
