      Advice for stress relief...

Anyone have some that don't include drinking, drugs, or sex? Be at least somewhat serious. I've got so much crap to do it's not funny and I sometimes just find myself wanting to cry or scream....Maybe I should cut back on work hours... *sigh*

      What everyone said is good.

Maybe spend some time in a boiling hot spa.... ahhhh.....

For me, I mediate and listen to peaceful music (HemiSync occasionally)

I'd write down everything I have to do with a couple of words describing each. Usually it turns out that there isn't much after all. Makes you feel better.

This is a great stress exercise I use:

find a quiet place and collect yourself only for about thirty seconds...

      2. then imagine all your stress, go through it in your mind.

      3. Take all the stress and then visualize its energy fusing into a red ball in the left palm of your hand. Visualize the red energy of stress swirling down your hand, leaving your mind into your palm. Keep the "ball" in your hand

      4. Remember the, or one of the most peaceful calmed times you have ever experinced. Maybe laying on a couch with your family after thanksgiving or something. Try to remember how calm you were. Immerse yourself in the feeling.

      5. Then visualize all that calm energy moving into a gold ball in your right palm. Visualize the energy flowing down your arm into the gold ball. Visualize the ball being relativaly bigger than the red ball. Like a basketball to a baseball ratio.

      6. Then take your right and left hand and put them together, vizualizing the gold ball fusing with the red. The balls color should change slightly into a goldish red.

      7. Hold the ball in both hands and then blow it away and vizualize it.

good job! all of this should be done with your eyes closed. It only takes maybe 2-3 minutes.

This seems stupid, but this little stress reliever usually helps me out. All you do in this pointless game is throw lightning bolts at little stick people, which is very satisfying (especially when they're acting dumb and jumping up and down or doing backflips). Found it while searching for "stress reliever" on google.

Well suicide works. Just kidding. Meditation is a good way to help though.

Step 1: Take about 4 muscle relaxers and some pain killers maybe.
Step 2: Crank up some good ol', trustworthy rock-and-roll
Step 3: Once you are calmed down, try meditating. The method I use for stress relief is where you picutre you body filled with black, icky tar. Then, you inhale deeply and imaging good, clean air flowing through you and pushing out the tar. More and more tar leaves your body every time you breath until the final breath, and suddenly you feel much better.
Step 4: Play some more music.

Just do something relaxing. Instead of meditation I do WILDs, which is basicly the same for me because I suck at WILDs. Sit around surfing the web for a few hours. Anything that is fun works, just relax.

Grand Theft Auto. An hour or so of blowing stuff up will relief any and all stress.

Sometimes meditation isn't the key, you could sort of call it the equivelant of trying to train a muscle with a weight that is too heavy, which sorta means it's not always the best method even though it may seem. But it is good.

Music is cool, maybe start a new sports class or something. When i get stressed, i think about good things such as the beach and kiting.

      Lowering work hours may help

      EXERCISE!!!

When I get stressed out, I hit the gym and try to work myself into a heart attack. Works really well, especially when you finish off with a nice long hot shower

Found this on google a while ago.... the program titled "stress reducer" on here is surprisingly fun. When you start it, it freezes whatever is currently on your computer screen, and then you can smash the crap out of it with a variety of weapons!

Don't call me a pyscho (I always do this anyway...but, *sighs*), but you if you have a fairly good imagination, you can act out whatever little skits/plots you want to. Try it, it's really mind boggling if you're a very social person, but if you're somewhere in the middle, or not too social, it might not feel too weird...

Be all the characters! Make the stupid sound effects! Cliche' to the MAX! It's funny, stupid, and sometimes fairly self entertaining. Hell, it's like being your own TV show. Come back tomorrow, do it again...you know all the plot, and won't be confused (unless...you're an idiot). And I know you're ready to laugh, or already are laughing, but hear this: you just might come up with a good comic/movie project idea. I know I did

I thank whoever raised this topic from it's grave, even if it was only about 2 feet under... Still useful info.

I agree with seeker, exercise is great stress relief. Work out your anger in the exercise, just don't go so hard you hurt yourself. For me, I find a nice 6 mile ride on my bike at a good clip works wonders. Sometimes, its the only thing keeping me sane. Cold air also seems to have a calming effect.

Alternately, take a break from what you're doing, and do something creative. Draw, write, play an instrument, enlighten the public, whatever. Something that you enjoy and involves putting out an effort is great stress relief, no matter what it is.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

I was going to recommend the same thing, only I was going to say you should preferably listen to either EMPEROR or DIMMU BORGIR :D
