Hokay, I've come up with a system.

I'm memorizing ten digits a day added onto what I already know...

this is what I've got so far from my memory,

There are these little rhyme things that help you remember pi, called piems, that the length of each word corresponds to the digits of pi. Look em up! Im sure itll help

I memorized about 250 for pi day last year. The first 50 will be plastered in my brain for eternity lol, they can just rattle off my tongue. The problem last year was i didn't start until 2 days before hand. Technically memorizing 100 digits a day isn't too bad if you are devoted. Takes maybe 2 hours of off and on focused effort to memorize 100 good enough to remember for a little while. Just memorize it in small clumps that make sense. 50 20 97 494459 for example, those flow for me. don't think of all the numbers individually, think fifty twenty ninety-seven for example.

It's not like most people would think it is. It's almost like how when a musician plays a piece from memory they don't know every note, they just know how to start and what phrase comes next. As you recite it then you can almost visualize or kinda get a feeling about what part is next, even if its just following in your mind where the part you are at was on the paper that you memorized the digits from.

There is always that pressure of your entire math class wanting to hear you say it. I remember we even loosened up for our trig final when someone asked me to "say pi". Maybe I should go for 500 this year, we could even have a contest to see who can get the most. If nothing else it's a great mental exercise and a great way to keep your nerd status lol.

3.1415926535897932384626433832795 is as far as I ever memorized, and I thought that was crazy...

Do you ever get the feeling that by memorizing complicated strings like that that you're pushing other things out of your memory to make room? ¬.¬

I don't know. Sometimes I feel if I don't recite pi to myself every once in awhile I'll forget about it because of everything else I'm learning.

Pi = 3.14159 for all practical purposes. Saved myself God knows how many hours of pointless memorization for 99.99999% of my uses of pi, which I never really use anyway now.

Is there something more useful you could be doing with your time? There's trivial knowledge and then there's trivial knowledge... and then there's remember 350 digits of pi, which isn't knowledge in any meaningful form at all.

Go watch Pi... the guy drills his brain in the end. It was an appropriate conclusion.

My memorization count gets put into the Pi Hall of Fame.

Have you tried mnemonics? That's how I got 120 digits in 2 days.
