Your Family History - Enlighten Us.
I thought this would be a pretty good topic since I haven't seen any remotely similar to it (aside from the state your famous relatives thread :P) so I'll go first.
In the 1800's there was a white, blonde hair blue eyed man named Andrew Thomas. He owned hundreds and hundreds of acres of land in Mississippi and ran a business with his land called "Sunny Side Plantations". He was a very big slave owner. Andrew Thomas had a white wife and a black mistress. He and his white wife conceived one child...a daughter. He and his black mistress conceived 3 children, 2 of them female, one male. Upon his death he divided his land up and split it evenly between his four children. A lady named Millie was one of his mulatto children...the lineage I come from. Today, my family still owns a shit load of land that's zoned as residential property. We're currently deliberating on whether we want to build apartment complexes back there, summer camps, neighborhoods etc... We own about 80 acres of land in my grandfather's name (the rest was split through the cobwebs of andrew's children's other descendants). I have a host of distant white relatives because of this...namely some Fox's in Clinton. There's a white woman named Terry Fox whose a prominent lawyer in our city so we're (I and my aunt) are going to try to reach out to our distant relatives sometime soon :) That is from my dad's side of the family, I don't know too much about my mom's side except that we came from a native american whom they called "Big Red", as in red indian. That's my family history.
Here is our family crest, it's centuries old.

The Harper coat of arms came into existence centuries ago. The process of creating coats of arms (also often called family crests) began in the eight and ninth centuries. The new art of Heraldry made it possible for families and even individual family members to have their very own coat of arms.
Now share your history with us! You don't have to be related to Lee Harvey Oswald or anything :P Just share what you know. And it can't be like your history from your grandfather on down...it has to go back a good bit of time. It can lead up to your grandfather on down but make it go as far back as you can.
