America just spewed 10% or whatever of its GDP into the banking system and you're still concerned about the 0.00001% they give to Africa?

Firstly, Africa has alot of good natural resources, which means if America invests in Africa then it can get raw material that it needs.

However, if you don't then Africa will just ask for help with other countries. China and Russia for example do lots of business deals with Africa, and China seems to be the only country that will really invest in Africa.

America just spewed 10% or whatever of its GDP into the banking system and you're still concerned about the 0.00001% they give to Africa?

This is stupid. I would worry about the banker getting alot of money for basically being a moron and careless.

aorozco, it's curious to me that with ALL the countries that the US is bailing out financially.. you're only concerned with the money spent on helping Africa.

That's because she's getting her morals from pop culture and isn't taking the time to really research what she's talking about.

Although it is also ironic considering the huge national debt that America has, whilst other countries which have been well economically managed such as China have huge surpluses...

If you want to blame our debt problem, don't focus your anger on Africa. I have to stand with clairity in asking why you specified Africa over all the other places we hand money to. In my opinion Africa needs financial support the most. Of course there are strategic advantages as well. Focus your attention on this administration-- Bush and Congress. Under this presidency over 4 trillion dollars have been added, pushing our national debt over 10 trillion. But at least we got to fight a just war, right?

We've been aiding countries and continents out for a long time and it never heretofore backed us up into such a hellish economic nightmare. (Side note: aren't you a Christian? Helping self before others?) It sounds to me like you just recently heard about our debt but, sadly, it's nothing new. We could do a thousand things to put us on the right path but no one in power seems to care.

Which is why it sucks that both presidential candidates are terrible...

Africa doesn't need money most, it needs regime changes. Anybody can see that... look at Zimbabwe. Africa has the materials it needs to develop, just not the bureaucracy.

But no, America is fine with making up a reason to go to war with one country, but having a perfectly legitimate reason to occupy another won't get them anywhere...

      ***HINT HINT***

      RACIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding, but seriously Africa gets less money than any other country from us probably. I find it more stupid go to bomb countries and have wars with them (some for fake-ass reasons I.E. Iraq) and then pay to rebuild the shit.

Yes, as we live comfortably, consuming 80% of the worlds resources here in North America, we should save those few dollars we give to Africa, a nation filled with AIDS, disgusting water not fit to drink, poor living conditions, and little to no food for it's people.

Seriously, think about it. We already do hardly shit all for these people. Do you really want to let those people suffer and die, the few that we do help, just so you can live a little more comfortably? How do you sleep at night?

uuuummm first off, i would love to help the poor starving african children but guess wat, sending africa money isn't doing anything but empowering the corrupt government. the children don't see that money, so if you wanna get pissed because i don't support corrupt regimes fine. but the worst thing that can be done is to give more foreign aid to african nations. foreign aid goes from government to government. foreign aid allows africa's corrupt regimes to buy military equipment, pay off cronies and continue to oppress their people. it also provides resources for its leaders to set up "retirement" accounts in swiss banks. what africa needs, foreign aid cannot deliver, and that's elimination of dictators and socialist regimes, establishment of political and economic freedom, rule of law and respect for individual rights. until that happens, despite billions of dollars of foreign aid, africa will remain a basket case. it's like pouring wine into a cracked glass, wasteful and just plain stupid. i do think about other wasteful things done by our government, i am not ignorant, this one just pisses me off more.

      oh, sorry.

      http://www.spiegel.de/international/...363663,00.html

i mean it is also common sense(i'm not bashing no one) if alot of countries have poured money into africa and we see not one hint of improvement, we need to see that we are just wasting money. now if we are so "eager" to help, then let's do something else, nnot provide easy cash to a corrupt regime. tsk tsk.

In a way she is right about most of money and food going to military equipment and to the most powerful person in the country. Alot of the countrys in Africa we give foreign aid to and we don't regulate end up using the supplies for their own means. Although when we do spend time to regulate the shipping and distribution it gets to the right people and not sold back to the people for high rise profit.

You should educate yourself about countries you might never afford to visit. Your sentiments on Africa are based solely on what your media feeds you, have you not learnt to not be so naive? This is not meant to offend you, I'm above that; it's sad to see blatant ignorance on public display.

Even if you lost 98% of what you have in the USA, you'd still have more than nearly every Subsaarian African.

So before you stop doing charity, think of who is really suffering.

Well, we won't see that happen for a while. At least not until we stop taking out loans/bonds to pay off loans/bonds. We are in it to deep now to employ Clinton economics or Reagenomics or what-have-you.

And ana, we are totally screwed either way. Every ponzi scheme is bound to collapse. That's what our budget is. (Thanks Nixon/F.D.R. ) So we may as well give out any extra money we have to people who can make use of it. Because when our hegemon falls, all the cash in teh world won't do us any good.

Sharing world power/resources with other countries is smart in the long term.

But I agree that feeding money to second world establishments with corrupt leaders is fairly useless in urban Africa, as is trying to sustain and in some cases increase the population of area that has far succeeded its population density in the starving third world nations.
