Go ahead and smoke. It's harmless and fun. There's nothing wrong with experimenting.
Did that convince you? ;)
Damnit, DuB!
Your facts are not helping.
Neither is the decriminalization of pot here (I live in MA)
Don't smoke pot.
Did that help? :P
Smoke pot, mess up your life, yeahh!
Heed the need of weed yo.
If you can make yourself smoke, you can make yourself not smoke. This is because in the end it is always up to you to decide.
You are giving your cravings power by saying what you have. To stop building this pressure, or "resisting" the temptations, simply stop thinking about them. The very dwelling increases the strength of the cravings and acts as a drive.
Smoking is bad for your health. You can get high without poisoning your body.
How?
Adrenaline rush from extreme sports?
If you're gonna take up something that will ultimately kill you, it might as well be something cool. ;]
That is legit.
Weed brownies, or tea, among many other possible edible alternatives to smoking. If you're worried about your health, you don't have to smoke it to get the same effects.
Some other possibilities are, macaroni and cheese, cheese and crackers (cooked in the oven), hot chocolate, and pretty much anything you can cook with melted butter ;-)
If you feel uncomfortable about smoking pot and feel that if you did it the only reason would be peer pressure and not recreation or anything, than don't do it. All viable reasons to do it are gone at that point.
Do it, and I shoot you in the foot.
Agreed?
Yeah, don't do it. I know someone who smokes it, and she is.... yeah.
who has the right to criminalize it? politics?!
Scientists have gone against the grain, so who are you going to trust: politics or scientists? (who actually know what they are talking about)
Hey, RiaD... smoke pot if you want to.
And don't be so bold to do it just because it's been decriminalized.
It's still illegal. And if you get caught you will get fucked.
It's just at not number one priority in Massachusetts.
Well... I can't argue with that logic
Oh yeah, go right ahead and smoke pot. While your at it, why don't you forget about that pizza you left in the oven while you go and pick up your friend, only to find out that your house is burning down?
Great idea. Oh, and did you pick up your milk?
Whilt states can decriminalize it for stte law, it's still against federal law, anyway... But the biggest point isn' that. Alot of you are saying, 'hey, do pot if you want to! Don't fall in line with the establishment.' Well, he said that he 'doesn't' want to. If he did it would just be falling in line with his friends.Quote:
Hey, RiaD... play with grass if you want to.
And don't be so bold to do it just because it's been decriminalized.
It's still illegal. And if you get caught you will get put down.

Why do you edit my posts in your responses?
It's annoying as fuck.
If his "dreams are pressuring" him into smoking then he wants to smoke. His subconscious does, at least.
And really, if he doesn't want to smoke then he won't.
And if he does end up smoking, that's cool too. It's not such a bad thing that his existence is going to change if he does.
He'll feel good for a few hours, get tired and hungry then go to bed and wake up refreshed.
He said nothing about his friends... his whole "struggle" is between the part of him that wants to try something new that he's never tried before, and the other is the part of him that doesn't want to... and I can only assume that's because of the negative stigmas that are perpetuated about pot all over the media and the internet.
Maybe you should spend more time reading posts and less time editing them.
I make awesome works of art when I'm high.
And I don't mean that in the "pot gives me inspiration" way, I mean in that it gives me the ability to focus on one thing for many hours in order to actually get my work done.
Just like the pharmaceutical commercials will tell you, [Drug X] is not for everyone, but the decision of whether or not to take one shouldn't be a blanket fear of what certain societal circles tell you is bad. If you want to smoke some pot and see how it effects you, then do it. If you have smoked pot and believe the negative effects outway the positive, then obviously you shouldn't do it again.
You shouldn't be worried about falling in line with anybody, and you shouldn't be worried about not falling in line either. Not doing something just because everyone else is isn't any better than doing it just because they are. Everyone should have their own reasons for doing what they do.
It's ultimately up to you whether or not you do the drug... I would suggest you do a lot of independent research before you form any conclusions on it. Don't do it so you'll be cool.
I edit them for sake of child friendliness.Quote:

It's annoying as flap-jacks.
Anyway, I"m reposting my last comment since it was so typo filled that... it was really typo filled! Here is the revised version.
Whilst states can decriminalize it for state law, it's still against federal law, anyway... But the biggest point isn't that. Alot of people are saying, 'hey, do pot if you want to! Don't fall in line with the establishment.' Well, Reality said that he 'doesn't' want to. If he did pot even though he didn't really want to that would just be falling in line with the establishment, it would be falling in line with his friends.
Though I now realize that he said I am my own peer pressure, not I have peer pressure. So the latter part of my post doesn't really apply.
Still, it looks as though his personal logic is saying that he doesn't want to try it. But I don't want to put words in people's mouths. That's just what I derive.
Why would you "child freindly" a post in a forum where children aren't allowed?
Who the fuck cares if theres a few goddamn swear words in some assholes fucking shit posts?
Stop doing it, it's annoying to no end.
Seriously.
It's gayer than 6 guys blowing 7 guys.
Funny thing about that pizza thing is I actually know someone who's done that. Only his house didn't catch on fire he just burned the pizza to the point that when he opened the oven smoked filled the entire kitchen and his house smelled like shit for a day.
Alright Elis, I'll qoute you less.Quote:

Who the fargin cares if theres a few darn-tootin' swear words in some dummies stupid posts?
Stop doing it, it's annoying to no end.
Seriously.
It's stupider than 6 guys punching 7 guys.
weed=awesomeness, awesomeness = bad lungs. using transitive property weed = bad lungs
to thine own self be true. and if you feel weed might help you do that... then by all means go nuts.
Honestly, it's your choice. You shouldn't really be looking to a forum to 'convince' you to stop... I think you're just craving attention. Make up your own mind.
I've smoked pot, uh... at least a thousand times - being generous - and my life is far from messed up.Quote:
lol I've smoked pot a few times, and my life isn't messed up. ;P
I used to smoke alot and than I found God and once you have god, weed will only bring you down. Can't get higher than the spirit. Peace.
Atleast its not alcohol, or worse, right? :)
I just like how he asked people to help him NOT smoke, and people come in here saying it's completely fine.
I really don't have a big problem with people who smoke cigarrettes, or weed, just aslong as they don't smoke it around me. But it pisses me off when people try to get people to smoke with them, or say it's alright to smoke when someone doesn't want to, or wants to stop.
He doesn't want to start smoking, so stop saying it's alright.
The point is that it's OK to smoke and that it's OK to not smoke.
"in matters of style, swim with the current, in matters of principle, stand like a rock"
think about it. choose whatever you think is best for you. dont let anyone tell you what you believe is wrong. be prepared to have thought behind your decision though. that might not make sense..
well its ur choice if u dont think you have an addictive personality then by all means experiment because its not physically addictive, nd dont think that cigarettes arent bad because uv smoked weed before dont evn try cigarettes trust me on that one. smoking weed is a lot of fun but make sure you have a sitter ur first time because you mite get paranoid. also dont move onto anything past weed because everything else is pretty bad. i didnt get addicted to cigs wen i tried thm but they didnt do anything for me so id rather not try again, cigars are a much better alternative nd they dont smell like shit nd arent nearly as addicting. remember addiction is bad but experimentation is enlightening.
just think of all the money you would lose if you did smoke, easy as that
but if you're a grower, then....i can't help you
why do your dreams "pressure" you to smoke, anyway?
Then smoke. What's so hard?
Now I understand your position better. If you want to, and it's not against local law, then I'd consider it. Either way is fine. I highly doubt that your mind will continue nagging you about it for long if you make the conciouss decision 'no' and just try ad get over it.Quote:
It's not so much as my dreams pressuring me, as it is mysel interpreting the dreams, and turning them into pressure. I obviously want myslef to smoke.
However, if you decide to do a little light smoking I don't see much wrong in that. I'd suggest not getting knocked out of your gord with pot, though. Just like alchohal is fine if you can stay pretty coherent.
If you don't want to smoke then don't. Its not really hard NOT to do something.
Oh and I'm from mass too and was soooo happy when question 2 passed :boogie: it was the main reason I voted this year.
and to everyone trying to make cannabis users look stupid go fuck yourself :D
DO NOT SMOKE POT.Quote:
Tell me not to smoke pot
the above post should have ended it all, lol
Then why are you the first to post after it?Quote:
the above post should have ended it all, lol
Because he wanted to use the acronym "lol."
the above post should have ended it all a long time ago, lol
You know, I love the fact that people feel the need to persuade themselves to NOT smoke pot.
It's been proven to be like, 10 times less harmful than cigarettes? It's being decriminalized...
It's not that bad, kids.
Anyway, I'd say at least try it once. If anything, you'll never know if you don't like it if you don't try it (I'm sounding like that bad kid from the 1950s propaganda films, hehe).
I think you should probably just go and try it. If you felt you had to make this thread, that makes me think you probably will regardless at some point. I was pretty much the same way, but I never really had the access and never tried to get it. I didn't even drink until I was 21.
When I had the opportunity I tried pot and and didn't get much out of it. I tried it once more and still didn't enjoy it. I'd say if you feel like you should try it, try it in a safe, friendly environment and make up your own mind. I think you are rational enough to know what is good for your life and what is not.
I DO NOT WANT YOU TO CONVINCE ME TO SMOKE.
I WANT YOU TO CONVINCE ME NOT TO SMOKE!
Please, stop telling me 'it's fine' and 'there's no harm'. That's not what I want to hear. Please, you make think you are helping, but you are not. Thank you.
We know that we're not helping you. We just think this topic is ridiculous. It's completely inconsequential.
Convince me not to eat a cheeseburger for lunch!!
Who the fuck cares?
You've come to the wrong place for that.
Don't fucking tell us to give you the advice you want. We will give you whatever advice we deem is the best advice.
'Convince' is the key word, but I do see that I am not making much sense. I am sorry for that, but I figured a few people may be able to tell me storied of how pot fucked up their lives.
Please close this thread, I realize how stupid it is.
Pot doesn't fucked up a person's life. They do.
RiaD, I understand what you're asking, but it really is impossible.
Unless we throw a whole bunch of lies and propaganda at you to scare you out of the desire to smoke pot. Which, no one in their right mind would ever try and do, as spreading harmful propaganda about cannabis is more dangerous than letting people smoke it legally.
We've told you the dangers(re: there really are none) and the positives. All that can be done is you make that decision yourself.
What I'm going to suggest is to go ahead and try it. Get the desire out of your system. You may like it or you might not. Either way the desire is out of your system. That and you'll be able to make a personal decision about pot, instead of basing your socio-political opinions on propaganda or hearsay.
Edit: And I don't have a personal anti-pot horror story... but I can tell you about how my cousin's life got fucked up because of pot.
A. is my cousin, he's older than me by 4 years but we've always been close.
He introduced me to pot when I was 15 and he was a Senior in high school. He was a decent student and was merit roll in high school all 4 years. He went to college at Georgia Tech.
He needed some extra cash for living expenses in his freshman year so he took it upon himself to grow 10 plants in the attic of the apartment he shared with 3 other GA Tech students to harvest and sell to a dealer friend of his. He was looking at making anywhere from $1,000 to $9,000 depending on how large his harvest would be.
There was a house party when his plants were about 8 weeks old. He got into a fight, whilst drunk, with one of his room mate's guests. He couldn't kick him out as he was invited by J. so they separated. A. went into the basement where the pong games were and the other guy made his way into the attic. He found the plants and the next day, being a spiteful fuck, he called the police and reported them... he took a few pictures as proof.
A. and his 3 room mates were arrested, although only A. and J. knew about it. They were each being charged with felony possession, felony growing and felony paraphernalia(there were some bongs/pipes around the house).
A. took full blame to get his friends off the charges and ended up going to prison for a year and a half. He wasn't able to return to school, as the government passed a law stating that anyone with drugs in their criminal record couldn't get any financial aid, either state or federal(although murderers and rapists can and do go to school on the government's dime)
He couldn't afford the tuition, and couldn't find a good job as most places won't hire a convicted felon.
He was going for an Engineering degree, he would potentially be making 45k+ if he graduated, but he didn't so he's working part time at McDonalds and part time at a car wash making minimum wage at both jobs.
And he's got 2 more years left on his probation, where he has to go to Narcotics Anonymous meetings weekly and has to meet with his P.O. twice monthly and take a urinalysis.
So I guess you could attribute that to pot.
But I'd say it was more the government's archaic, racist, retarded anti-pot laws that fucked up my cousin's life. And alcohol.
Your unconscious is far more aware of the benefits of pot than your conscious self me thinks.
No - unconscious.
The term "subconscious," while common in lay speech and pop psychology, is not recognized among serious psychologists and is never used in academic writing. Which makes sense, because Freud himself (the originator of all that unconscious mind nonsense) used the term unconscious, not subconscious. He recognized very early on that the term subconscious was ambiguous and misleading, and divided it into the terms 'unconscious' and 'preconscious' over 100 years ago. As if this weren't enough, the term has become so hackneyed today that it can be taken to mean any number of things depending on what one thinks it is. Best to avoid using it altogether.
Oh. Well then.
