How i Cured my BIG blushing problem!

I used to blush all the time for no reason at all, i think i made a thread about it in the help section a while back. Anyways as some of you know i had a job interview today and i was dreading it, i thought i would blush and make myself look like a tomatoe, and when i blush i sweat, sweaty palms and all!:embarrassed::oops:

So i came with an attitude towards the blushing, i know this might sound odd but i thought to myself "I want to blush" I even tried to force myself to blush while waiting!
So when i was being interviewed and i though i was about to blush i quicky thought " Thats it, come on blush now" And for some strange reason it didn't make me blush:D:bowdown:

So if any of you suffer from blushing (if you haven't experienced it before you won't understand what it's like to blush in front of everyone and everything)
Just approach with the attitude of wanting to blush, because for some reason it just makes it so you can't blush!

It's a psychological thing... Looking backwards to when I still had a blushing problem, and looking at how I got over it, it's pretty straightforward.

It is, indeed, simply a change in attitude.

When you blush, it is an indication of discomfort at something. So the way to treat this is to not be uncomfortable anymore. A change in attitude towards life in general is normally what it takes. Just get into the world and do what you want to do without giving a damn about what others think of you. Just don't give a crap about others' opinions on you. Why? Because you're simply having fun, you're simply living life. If people then think bad of you, then just realize that it is you who is having all the fun. (as my life's motto goes: 'Just do it!')
And that's the same thing you did, essentially, albeit on a smaller scale. You went into the interview thinking 'I want to blush'. You didn't give a crap anymore on whether you would blush. So, you got over it.

It's interesting how your mind can totally make out how you react, indeed, even how your body reacts, and how a simple change in attitude can turn it all around.

You can do the same thing with hiccups. In high school before a choir concert if someone had the hiccups, he would turn to them and DEMAND that they hiccup right then and right there and would keep demanding from the poor student until it stopped. It was quite amazing the first time I witnessed it :D

Then again, if that didn't work, he would have the student grab their belly fat and jiggle it. I think the hiccups just stopped out of sheer embarassment! Ah, poor Doug. :D

I had a blushing problem too, and it was basically just when I was doing presentations, talking to girls and some other things. I was always afraid I was gonna make a mistake, like say something stupid or wrong or incorrect. Later on I found that a "just do it" attitude is the way to go, and then it all stopped and I'm way more comfortable.

I'm wondering if this would work with laughing during inappropriate moments as well...

Me and my mate are terrible for laughing at anything, in music lessons this kid said bongos and we laughed so much my nose was watering, we got sent to the headteacher and i tryed so hard not to laugh i bit part of my lip off. Anything makes me laugh which makes my mate laugh then it's a vicious circle haha :)

If you have enough control over your emotions, and you actually try to "blush," you will. I just tried it now and managed to make myself feel embarrassed and "blushy".

Don't try to force yourself to "blush," and wanting to "blush" is a strategy that really is equivalent to taking a different mindset to your problem.

Or...you could try facial blood-letting.

What is happening here is that you believe you will not blush when you do this, therefore you do not. Same as when you believe you will out of fear, you most certainly almost always do. It works the same way as a panic attack; when someone fears an anxiety attack, they generally have one. Blushing is very similar when one develops a fear of same.

Normal blushing happens now and then, but some people are confident enough that they hardly ever blush, and when they do it does not really bother them. Others blush in grocery lines.
