      Any tips on quiting smoking???

      I've been smoking for 9 years now and i've quit smoking at college which is a plus piont but am still smoking when ever am out with friends..
      Am substituting cigs for other things but those other things are whats keeping me smoking and am finding myself waiting to smoke those other things.

      There must be smokers on this forum who have quit and so on am just wundering how you all did it and if its worth giving everything up just to stop smoking.

      I forgot to add i don't buy them at all anymore i stopped buying them about 2 months ago, but i just end up borrowing cigs off friends lol

      What's the problem then? I'm the same - I've never been a full-time smoker, but I do 'borrow' them from friends sometimes (oddly, they never ask for them back). Smoking a small amount isn't going to hurt you. But if you must, here's my answer in another thread:

      When you get the urge to smoke one, do something else. Eat some chewing gum, or something. Do something that'll keep you busy, and your mind off of them.

      Go get a calculator, average how much you spend a week, or whatever, on cigs then find out how much you'll save a year if you quit.
