Can't really see the coloring though.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...7172413AAvnCVt They do not like me.
Cool! Looks like a couple of eyebrows and a moustache.
They're just telling you that stuff cuz they're sick of people mistreating animals.
I picked up a plant and rock and he is soo much happier :D
How can you tell? Is he skipping along his bowl and whistling Rogers & Hammerstein tunes??
Hm. Well, could we persuade you at least to get a lamp on him? $5, and a warmer fish. He will appreciate it, and live longer. Hermit crab heaters, placed under the bowl, also work (work better, actually, but are more expensive). Your bowl is too small for a conventional aquarium heater.
Do I need an aquarium lamp or my desk lamp? it's a 40 watt bulb and produces a good amount of heat. I could adjust how far away it is from him too.
He also made a bubblenest is that a good thing?
Desk lamp works fine. Get it to a distance so that it won't overheat.
Bettas are tropical fish. :]
Bubblenest, only a few days after arriving? Who knows. Could be survival instinct, could be asserting his manliness in this newfound territory (in case some fine lady fish are nearby). A water change (to higher quality water... From store cup to bowl, I'd say there's been a positive change in quality.) would also spur this mating-type behavior.
 What the heck's a bubble nest?
Yeah they really love their plants eh. :D I had a plant in a fish tank and sometimes fed it plant food.
You know if you got a tank (at least like 2.5 - 5 liters), you wouldn't have to clean it nearly as often. I imagine your fishbowl will get pretty dirty pretty quickly. I kept my goldfish in a fishbowl for like a day when I was doing major cleaning of their tank, and the water got murky really quickly.
