I've heard that chickens can move/ run around after being decapitated but I've always written it off as "probably not". Well...I was wrong.
Warning, the videos are very graphic.

The things soldiers do when they are bored.
This and the dog one disgust me.
Animals such as chickens can survive decapitation and continue to use their motor functions. :)
American military officials are capable of animal cruelty that is words such as "sick monsters" and "total fucks" don't even equate. :)

I think he disapproves...

Oh, right. I have to go to work tomorrow. Do you have an extra pair of boots for me to rip off the skulls of these chickens? Mine got rather soggy from all the blood yesterday.
Those things know what they're doing even in death.

He was a bit shabby on the 360.
Now that's just wrong. Even if they are used to it and have no emotion when killing.
This is ****ing messed up...
I mean yeah, I know this happens, but should we really allow people to record it and put it on youtube for everyone to see?
Sure! Why not? It's not like it's sex-related or anything. If it won't scar our children for life and risk them developing strange fetishes or becoming GAY, it's perfectly fine!
What the fuck kind of rednecks do that for fun and let their kids watch? Only in America.
I don't have a problem with the chicken being killed, but the way it was done. I mean, 2 (!!) failed attempts to snap it's head? They should've used an axe or something..... BUT, the way they were talking, it could've been an exercise in being a Survivalist in dire situations when tools might not be available.
It was also carried out in an educational and respectful manner (for the most part), which makes me think it was training.
I read an article somewhere that a man tried to butcher a chicken but it survived. He kept it alive by "feeding" it with a dropper and it lived for about 6 months despite not having a head. Most of the brain stem was intact, which kept it alive.
**Edit**
The second video is disturbing because of the laughter... but, again... if butchering chicken is something the family does, perhaps they were trying to desensitize the child to the death by using humor.
Nope, I experienced this at my grandmothers farm when I was a kid too.
We also pulled out the vocal cord thingy and it would say chicken-sounds when we squeezed it.
I remember feeling a bit disgusted, but the memory is pretty fukken cool 8D
And seriously, what's with the hateful comments? The chicken is dead, it just happens to be moving. We see dead animals everywhere. The only difference is that the muscles in this one are still doing stuff.
EDIT:

I'm really surprised by this, I had no idea people were so stupid.
From the youtube vid:
"okay. this is horrible. i know it is (hopefully) for food, but to stand around and laugh at it is a whole different concept. how would you like it if ur head got chopped off and ppl stood around laughing as you ran around helpless. if i knew it was you, i would be one of the ppl laughing, so you know how it feels. ha"
Do these people think you can actually live without a fucking brain?
Hell, do you guys in this thread think that? Since you think it's so horrible?
I didn't care that the chicken was dead, I eat chicken all the time. It's just bad parenting to allow children that young to be amused by something so gruesome.
It's the spinal cord getting confused that it's not getting signals from the brain anymore so it releases all of it's stored up electrolytes. The human body will twitch too after death. I'm not saying it's animal cruelty at all, just bad parenting.
Ah yeah, I get what you mean.
But I saw that when I was a kid too, and I think I laughed at it aswell. I don't feel like it was particularly bad parenting at the time, except I felt a little sick from all the blood and dead animals doing things dead things shouldn't do...
This headless chicken lived for a very long time after getting the axe.

Did you read the article? It needed food and water, it breathed, it walked around...That doesn't count as being alive anymore?
I'm assuming the majority of you hypocrites are meat eaters. You think you are all so morally superior because you don't have to kill your meat yourselves? Passing the buck onto someone else doen't make it any better, you just don't have to deal with it directly.
I find your attitudes way more disgusting than the floppy chicken dance. They should have put that video to music, maybe the chicken dance song.
So we are in agreeance? :shock:Quote:
I guess, just as much as a tree is alive.
The chicken is as much alive as someone who's braindead. If you can switch off the life support and let that person suffocate, why would you consider this chicken alive?
