So I went ahead and ordered a beer making kit

I've always wanted to get one of these. If I make it right I should get sixty 12 ounce servings per 25 dollars. Any of you ever tried using one of these things? It is the Homebrew brand.

I never got one of those kits perse, I do have all the stuff you need to make beer though, just need to get off my ass and do it.

Got the wort chiller, plastic fermentation bucket and glass fermentation carboy, pony kegs for the final brew along with a C02 tank to charge them and so you dont need apump when your ready to tap them =)

Made a stout, Shamrock stout, SOoooooOOO good, we had people that dont drink dark beers drinking it saying how good it was, also made a kilians clone which was ehh.. and then.. we made a Barley wine... wholy crap... one shot of the stuff gave me a buzz our final measure showd us having an alchohol% of something around 12.46 I think BWAHAHAHAH

      had a berry flavor too

I've never made beer, however, this year, I made around 100 gallons of wine!

All kinds, red, white, strawberry, pear, apple, peach.....
I canusually bring in a bottle of OK stuff for around 50 cents.
Costs me around $1.00 per bottle to make the really good quality stuff

dark beer! im not the biggest fan.
i do like all these European beers over here and you dont have to be 21 to drink in Greece, just old enough to walk to the store

I am bottled, fizzy water and you are shaking me up.

Well, here is a little update on my brew. Right now it is sitting in the fermenter. It has been in there for about 2 days now. I can smell a very strong beer or wine smell coming form the airlock at the top. It is definately turning into something alcoholic. It appearently takes 1 month to get good beer. 1 week for fermenting. 1 week for settling. (all that crap inside of it) Then they say to bottle for 2 weeks before drinking. That appearently improves the taste.

Also, the kind I am making is extra pale ale. I just sort of randomly picked out mixes to buy.

I do have one question. What happens if I make beer with only the liquid malt extract and yeast? Will it turn out to be beer still? Just without any flavor of course.

Btw, what is uncarbonated beer like? I imagine that is how beer used to be. All full of grain type crap and not carbonated. I wanna try some as soon as it it fermented.

I'd just walk to the store and order a bunch of beer. It's so much easier.

No clue. I prefer drinking beer, not making the beer.

I think, but I'm not enteriely sure, that there is a loophole about alcohol drinking in England. It's something like:

"At age 5 and over, children may be supplied with and consume alcohol in registered clubs, and may consume but not buy alcohol in licensed premises provided the alcohol is ancillary to a meal and bought by an accompanying adult"

It's all just confusing legal garb to me. If you want to read this document, go to the link below (this document applies for England and Wales only):

Well, being 19 I make my own. I still have 1 year 5 months 6 days before I can drink it legally. Also, I make 5 gallons for only 25 dollars. That sure beats buying your own.

It still has at least 3-4 days till I can drink it. And that would be drinking it non carbonated. This is my first try.

I am going to try it before I carbonate it. If all goes well you should know in 3-4 days +1.

Hmm, I tried making extra pale ale. I just found out that is supposed to be very bitter. And yes, it tastes like crap. Just a little too bitter for me. I think from now on I will not even add the hops. I mean the whole point of adding those is to make the stuff bitter. So the beer pretty much tastes like hops with a hint of grains.

My sister tried some and she said it was really good. I guess it is normal then. I just hate bitter beer.
