I hate when they're telling obvious lies, especially when I've seen the guy for the past 10 months with the same story every time.
But I love when I'm approached for money and the guy walks up and is honest.
"Look man, I'm broke, and I want to get drunk. You got any spare change to help me out?"
I'll give them change for that every time. Honesty is the best policy IMO.
I was at The Square last night and that happened I was with like 8 friends sitting in a circle smoking a bowl in an alley, tryin to get out of the rain, and we each gave him at least $1.50 which is what a decent 40 costs here.
So dude had like 15 bucks and he was happy as hell, goin off to get his bottles. On his way back he bikes past us again and says thanks and you can hear all of his bottles clinking so we yell "Have a good time" and shit like that, and he turns around, comes back and hops off the bike. I was kinda worried he was gonna try and roll all of us or something, but instead he reaches in his bag and he gives each of us one of the 40s and asks if he can join the circle.
This guy sat down and I passed him the bowl and we just sat and vibed over drinks and weed in an alley in the middle of a thunderstorm.
That was mad fun, until someone mentioned Michael Jackson dying earlier that day and he started to get kinda teary eyes, and he just sat staring into space for a bit. And all of a sudden he got up and thanked us for the conversation and the money and the smoke and then he biked off into the night.
Never got his name, or anything, but that's why I love my city. Cause I got tons of stories like that and it'll probably happen again next week.
Buffalo really is the city of good neighbors.
