I was cutting a branch stupidly, holding it with my hand, my knife slipped, and now I have a deep gash above the middle knuckle of my left fore finger. |

Only a white man cuts toward himself! |
|
I wasn't technically cutting towards my self, or we'd have a whole different problem. It's the way I was holding it- hard to explain. |
|
Don't feel so bad; I have a jagged scar 3/4" long on the first joint of my left index finger where I did the same exact thing, only with the double-cut saw blade on my Swiss Army Knife. Of course, I was twelve when I did it, and it was the same day (Thanksgiving) my uncle had his first stroke... |

We've all done stupid things with knifes in our hand. However, the biggest wound I have ever gotten was influcted with a rake. Nothing's safe. |

My brother did something similar. It's impossible to explain how it happened, it just happened |

How well did you clean that? Looks a bit swollen. I'd be very careful of infection in an open wound like that. Slap a Band-Aid on that sucker. |
|
I taped it up and then cut a piece of a tampon pad to tape to it. |

If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

Heh. This reminds me of the time my friend Max was playing with his dad's machete. He picked it up, sheathed, and held it with the thumb on his sheath-hand stretched across the section where the sheath meets the hilt. Apparently, he figured his thumb would just run across the back of the blade. What he didn't know was that he was holding the knife upside down (he was like 13-14 at the time). So, when he ripped the knife out of the sheath, he dragged the blade out, along his thumb, which was positioned over top of it. |

Someone should make a "What was your worst injury" thread. Everyone likes to brag about how badly they've hurt themselves |
