Society is imaginary. It doesn't exist. All that exists are people. The rules of nature that applied millions of years ago to our primitive ancestors still apply to us. The differences are incredibly small and not woth noting (like, for example the conveneince of the intenet and our ability to eat with a lot less effort on our parts etc.). In short, it is my belief that people don't really care about questions like this.
This question reels you in with it's shiny header and it's ability to possibly cause some sort of destruction in the form or argument. The truth is that in any given circumstance, there will be people who believe THIS and there will be people who believe THAT.
The truth is that he who has no opinion and only listens to his own metronome is living in truth. He will make his own decisions based on what he thinks, believes and feels.
Practically speaking, this isn't always smart as there are indeed consequences for your actions in "society", but for the most part I'd say that if you used your own judgement to your advantage that issues like this become obscure.
Personally I don't care whether or not people are homosexual or heterosexual or some variation of the two. I don't care whether or not you've slept around with hundreds of people or not. In the end, I'll take this data that you've allowed me to process and use it to my advantage by helping me make a decision based upon your nature and my own observation (i.e. if you've PROVED to me that it's in your nature to be promiscuious, and I am not the type of person to be with someone who has such lust, then I'd break it off with you cause that's just not what I want - It's nothing personal. I'm not stopping you from doing whatever you want to do, I'm just removing the common factor - Myself).
:)
Society is this way because the majority supports it - including woman. When a woman doesn't make sex with hunters (I don't know the word, as my native language is another) she is like putting a vote to the society -- if all women do that for centuries, probably there will be no hunters in the future. The same thing occurs the other side -- if the majority of men prefer virgins to marry, the majority of women is forced to change.
I'm not saying that society have full power over the individuals, but rather that society have coercitive power over them.
Me, I don't approve of males doing it either.
