Interesting idea! It would make a cool science fair experiment, correlating a sleepers lucid dreaming rate against his IQ. I suspect though, the results would be totally random.

For the last time, just to clarify, "most" IQ tests are meaningless, specifically the ones you find on the internet.

The WISC and WAIS however have massive sample populations and have been professionally refined with decades of research. Those results do mean something. Those internet tests should not be considered tests at all, they are games.

Well, I have taken the real tests AND the online tests. They yield similar results.

i agree that internet ones suck, mine average out at about 136. I would like to have an official IQ test done, but have no idea how to go about doing this. any help?

the way to go would be to go to a psychologist. They can perform true IQ tests and give you the most accurate results...

If you go to a psychologist, that is the test that they will give you. The WAIS is the most widely accepted adult intelligence test ever created.

Actually, there is a reason that a psychologist must give the test and not just anyone that can follow instructions, so it isn't just completing that test like that...

i can't help but think people are lying on their scores here... i find it very hard to believe that this site is dominated by the select 2.2% of the population that score above 130...


hmmm, kids make me laugh... i'm at 108 and i'm average... the higher end of average on current scales... but you are all geniuses apparently, and i find that hard to believe when i read some of your posts.

what the hell i tested at the top 5% persent of my school and on a college level reading and im in 9th grade its just bull that these members are all menca level IQ they are just lying through there teeth errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr keyboards........?

No kidding. I really have yet to meet a kid (heh, I laugh at the way I refer to kids even though I am one. Really, me laugh! Me laugh!) who hasn't said something like \"I have an IQ of 138\" or \"I have an IQ of 136\". I've never seen a single person even remotely close to 100. Something is either wrong with the IQ test or people are lying to themselves. I am not surrounded by genuises. I mean, take a jiffy at greywolf's post here:

I think I'm right in saying that an IQ test dosen't have much in the way of spelling, reading or writing but when you produce something like the above and you've come out in the top 5% percent of your school - well, it's a tad fishy.

I did an internet test and got something around a 140, but it was just a bunch of logic problems and pattern recognition that I found very easy. I do well in school even though I don't work very hard or study, so I think I probably have a rather high IQ, but the test seemed like something meant to make you pay for subscription to the site.

Most people I know got around 130, which is a Cognitive Designation of "Genius" according to iqtest.com.

Then they go walking around school saying, "OMGz, OMGz, me Einstein, me get 135 in test, me no dumbass, me get better than youz00rz", when all they did was probably just guess the answers to it.

Well, I don't pay attention to people's scores that were obtained from online tests. Also, we are talking about intelligence here, not knowledge. Even thousands of years ago there were many geniuses, but few of them had the knowledge available to use their intelligence. Even now many people who are very intelligent are not very smart. Most of what intelligence does for someone is help them learn faster than someone with lesser intelligence.

Anyone who has never had an official test like mensa in person should ignore any score they recieved online. If you really believe you are a genius, then take a real test and see what you get. Now another thing you have to remember is that this is based on every persons's IQ. How many mentally disabled people do you see on the internet? You don't see any. How many people with an average IQ would you see? You would see some, but still not that many. Most people of lesser intelligence tend to be uninterested in playing games online or chatting. They prefer their PS2 or like to actually leave the house and go out to parties or the like. We can also consider the type of forum this is. This is not a sports forum, or a forum about nascar. The more intelligent you are, the more likely you will be skills at whatever you try. This includes lucid dreaming. I'd imagine that every person here has at least an IQ of 100. I would bet the average here is about 125.

Also, IQtest.com is wrong about what IQ denotes genius. Most psychologists agree that 140-150 or higher is considered genius. Also, with the real tests there are multiple scores that make up the average score. You could be a genius at one thing and mentally retarded at another.

There are a COUPLE of exceptions, though... *ahem*

Sometimes you can't compare even different 'real IQ tests'. That's because they use a different 'average dispersion' (or whatever it's called). For example the Menca IQ is around 164 with dispersion of 24, 143 with 16 and 140 with 15. The Finnish Menca uses 24, but most American tests use 16 or 15. That's why you can't really compare the results if you don't know the averate dispersion used in the tests.

I did a professional IQ test once because my mother didn't like my bad grades, and she teaches people with learning disablilities (very annoying, because she seems to think that EVERYONE has a learning 'difficulty' errrgh). The results came out that I had an IQ of 136, and basically the reason my grades were bad was because I couldn't be fucked, which gave me a lot of explaining to do. My mother now thinks I am a gifted and talented (the IQ for gifted and talented is 134) 'underachiever'... she never gives up. Grumble Grumble.

Yeah I wouldn't trust those IQ tests as far as I could throw em, and I don't think I could throw them, so I wouldn't trust them. There are people that are trained to perform these tests for a reason, and that is that it has to be done properly. Yeah I know everyone is curious, but don't build your whole life around it. Contrary to popular belief, it is also possible to increase your IQ if you are determined.

Roller, you must have been misinformed. You cannot increase your IQ. It is an innate ability that is impossible to be altered. It is something you are born with. We are not talking about knowledge here, only intelligence. Knowledge has a specific definition, intelligence does not. You may call it "popular belief", but all psychologists agree that it cannot be changed aside from some form of brain surgery we are unaware of yet.
