A device that doesn't support multitasking is a crippled device. It's about being free to use the device for what ever the hell you want. But if you really want to mess up your iPad, shouldn't you be allowed to? Again it's about freedom. Apple wants to control what you use your tablet for. Would you accept it, if you bought a laptop and got told that you weren't allowed to find program on the internet, you were only allowed to install pre-approved ones?

You are free to do do, you just have to jail break it. I'd be highly surprised if there wasn't a jailbreak for it already. Also you have the freedom to buy another fucking product.

Most people won't need any other apps, for those that do there are other options.

Oh and Adam that is sweet. I got the model down from that. Damn Apple bringing the new ones out like a year after I get mine!
They're amazing, even my one is. But that new one.... basically all screen. It's also completely recyclable once you're done with it. I think, maybe like 90%. And extremely energy efficient.

I got it today. I'm using it now, it's sexy as hell. Although already crashed once LOL. Anyway, just got to learn the basics on this thing as been a PC guy my whole life, so getting used to the apple. I was going to get the 27" one and I'm glad I didn't because sitting in front of this screen seem HUGE

Oh did you get the 24 inch? Yeah that's the same size as mine. It seems huge when you first get it.

Mine also crashed soon after I got it lol Then it crashed one more time I think and never again.

If i buy the first I-Pad version to come out, will i be able to get a software update on it so that i can Copy/Past and Multi-Task etc?

or should i just wait for the V2 one to come out?

I would wait atleast untill V2, maybe till V3.

Look at the iPhone, and all the suckers with the first one. I bet iPad II will be 300 dollars and something sweet, like water proof. And it will fix all the V1 mistakes.

Yeah, you never by the first version of a product. It's always doomed to failure. Except for the XBOX, that's the only exception that I can think of. But in that case the XBOX 360 ended up sucking/having problems etc.

It's just an overgrown iPod touch, and nothing more.

Why should it infect anyone else's iPad? It's your own you're fucking with, and that isn't directly connected to anyone else's. They could just implement an option you have to enable, which makes it possible to install files not gotten from the market. That how Android does it.

Uhhhh, it's called connecting to other iPad's via wi-fi or bluetooth.

They could not implement that option lol Or do you mean like how Microsoft implemented DRM on the Zune and it took days for some hackers to easily get past it?

Wrong. Viruses can completely melt your components. But yes I think jail breaking it does void the warranty.

Exactly, and your objection to most of these things can be solved by buying another product.
You see, you don't get what most Apple users want. They want a product, whether it's a phone or a computer, to work right out of the box. With a simple "Apple Store" button which you can click on and search for an app you may need. Download it, knowing it's going to work perfectly because Apple checks it, knowing it won't contain viruses, spyware etc.

Safari is the best web browser for speed. It's light which means less processing power, ergo more battery life. See above for reasons people won't give a shit.

What did you do? Search for "Laptop under $500" and post the first link?
Do you know how fucking useless that laptop would be?
For a start, it's got Vista 64 bit, and it's got an inbuilt graphics card, with that particular one it will barely run any games, maybe the first sims might work lol. But with Vista, most of the processing power will go towards that, so probably not.

It has DDR2 RAM........ 'nuff said.

With the iPad, anything you buy for it WILL work, which is the same with all Mac products, everything will work because it's made or checked by Apple. You won't buy a game and go "ohhhh, fuck I need a new processor and need to get windows 7 because Vista is a piece of shit which for some reason comes on every latptop these days, probably need to get DDR3 RAM too, ah fuck, shoulda just bought the more expensive one."

Tommo, that's the computer I have. It works fucking great. Never had a problem with it. Plus, guess what? You can get FREEWARE. It may not be the best, but at least you don't have to keep shelling out money every time you want to install a program. It also includes a free upgrade to Windows 7...just saying. I'd take my computer over an iPad any day.

What do you use it for?? It couldn't be that great. Maybe if it didn't have windows vista....

Apple has free apps too. BTW I'm not defending the iPad here, I think it's a piece of shit, just the fact that people are complaining about it when they don't have to buy it. People are saying, in a verbose way "Stop taking away my freedom on a product that I don't have or want to buy!"

I could care less about people's freedom with the product...I just think it's sort of a waste of resources and technology.

I use my computer for a lot of crap...including a flight simulator. Runs like a charm.

Hm, ok that's strange. Depending what flight simulator. Anyway I don't really care about that in particular.

It's not a waste, it's recyclable. Although I'm not sure how many people would bother to recycle it.... I think 10% is about the amount of electronics that get recycled properly. But whatever, there's been more wasteful things. The next one might have solar cells on it too. So that's a plus. So if you think of it like that, this isn't wasteful because it's leading to a newer product which could replace newspapers/books etc. Saving forests and c02 emissions.

Still, they definitely could've waited and brought it out later with more environmentally friendly things. But that's the way shit works in our economy! They'll make a tonne of money off this one, come out with a new one next year and everyone will buy that.

I use Flightgear. Some of the most advanced scenery known to open-source flight sims, and I have many dozens of planes installed. I'm very pleased with the graphics, as well as the loading speed and stability of the system. But right, moving on...

I should have rephrased "waste of resources" a bit better...by that, I meant that it was not a great product, and that it has a ways to go. Had Apple waited to release it and made a more desirable product, the circuitry and other computer components could have been employed in that device instead. Also, consider where the electricity to run the iPad comes from: in America, mostly coal-fired power plants, though this changes based on region.

I also know that even the cheapest of laptops with wi-fi compatibility can use the Wall Street Journal, as well as access/torrent digital books.

Eh, I have no idea where I'm going with all of this. I guess, in summation: the iPad is an oversized, expensive iPhone, and Steve Jobs failed. Get one if you must, but also give some consideration to the alternatives.

I was on a square 19" - so now onto a wide screen 21.5" - It just seems a lot bigger in front of me. Either way I freekin love this thing The magic mouse is awesome too!

Fuck the magic mouse was so good. But mine was faulty. It kept scraping along the desk underneath, all this metal dust was everywhere. Gotta ring em up soon and complain. Actually I might do that today.

EDIT: Award Winning technical support my fucking ass! I just rang up and they said I have to bring it in to an apple store!
